HELLO EVERYONE, I AM BARRY GERALD ( JERRY) APPLE. I was born on January 19, 1945, in Baltimore, MD. I was the son of Lillian and Samuel Apple, I had one sister Marilyn Apple Schwartz, of Boynton Beach Florida and two nephews Brian Katz (wife Lauren great nieces Delaney and Racheal Katz). Kenneth Katz (wife Julie, great nephew Jordan and great niece Lindsay Katz).
I resided with my soul mate and companion Delores (Dee) McLain from August 2012 to the time of my journey home with God. Dee was by my side through many of my ups and downs.
Shortly after I graduated from high school I enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for twenty years. I volunteered in the National Guard from 1985 to 2008 in Pikesville, MD. I was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska for three years, and also served two years in the Netherlands. The military was my whole life, I was forced to retire at the age of seventy (70).
My favorite foods were Maryland Blue Crabs, Maryland Crab Soup, Raw Oysters, pizza, Subway subs, and all assorted Tasty Kates. I enjoyed a good steak, roasted chicken, and mashed potatoes. I enjoyed drinking Pepsi, Sweetened Iced Tea, hot chocolate, and I enjoyed a cold glass of beer when eating my crabs.
I enjoy travelling, fishing, bowling, playing board games, going to the different activities at the Maryland State Fairgrounds and I especially loved dogs. Bella was my newest little dog she was the love of my love. My favorite holidays were the 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, and Christmas.
I enjoyed being with people, especially military people. I did not have any favorite person because I loved everyone.
I enjoyed watching football (Ravens), Baseball (Orioles) and any sport no matter what it was. I loved watching old cowboys and Indian movies, especially Audie Murphy, Gene Autry, and Roy Rogers just to mention a few mostly all the old stars. I also enjoyed watching old war movies. I could just sit and watch these old movies all day long. I also loved board games especially Scrabble I don't believe anyone could beat me at Scrabble I was that good. I played Word Scape (A word game on google play) on my phone, and I was up to level 365,000 when I entered the hospital.
To those of you reading this, please keep me in your prayers and have good thoughts about me. Enjoy an ice-cold Pepsi and pizza and think of me. I will see you again in Heaven.
A graveside service will be celebrated at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Road, Crownsville, Maryland 21032 on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 1:45pm.
