Being with Bruce was like being in sunshine!  He always warmed your heart.  He had an amazing way of making you feel like you were the most special person in the room.  I especially enjoyed his deadpan delivery of funny lines that he would punctuate with a smile. He gave great hugs too!!

I loved Bruce's playful nature.  I was the organist at Timonium Church from 2013-2015 and he sat right behind the organ.  He was always so supportive and encouraging but most of all he was funny.  Great with the one liners and quick comments.  I also enjoyed the times he shared the history of the church with me.   It was a true blessing to get to know Bruce and create music with him.  Rest in peace my friend - you will be missed.  

Memories of Bruce over the last 50 years include Bruce with Carol and kids at backyard picnics and at Fourth of Julys by the Bay with neighbors/friends,  and nights out with the grown-ups on Saturdays and especially on New Year’s Eve.  
Our paths crossed frequently at Timonium United Methodist Church.  Bruce worked with Frank on the church Work Crew and he always commented on just how helpful Bruce was with whatever was needed.   Every Wednesday night, Bruce and I would be at choir rehearsal and Bruce would occasionally feel the need to add a bit of humor.  He arrived one night in his fireman’s hat and outfit and “looking” for the fire.  Another night he wore a blonde, curly long-haired wig and wanted to sing with the sopranos.  Another night - probably on or near his 80th birthday, he stood up, walked to the front of the group, and proceeded to sing “Jesus Loves Me” with his special verses about what it was like to be a senior citizen!  
The choir did not sing from March, 2020 until rehearsals started this September, 2021, and Bruce became the only man in the choir.  Bruce still had a lovely baritone voice and as long as he heard the first note, he did fine!  At the last rehearsal Bruce attended, he didn’t have a copy of Sunday’s music, so we shared music and sang "Amazing Grace" together.   That is my own special memory of Bruce.  He will be remembered and missed by many.  Blessings to all of the family.  


What a special man dear Bruce was! So many images flood my mind as I remember him: coming into the church office in his jogging outfit, red faced and perspiration running down his face, carrying a bag full of trash he had collected from the church lawn; teasing me about something, what I was eating for lunch, what I was wearing, something I said in a sermon; or telling me a joke. He had a serious side, for sure, but he saved it for important stuff.
I was so impressed with his compassionate care for his beloved wife. He was an example to all of us of living one day at a time, putting one foot in front of the other and never complaining.
It is hard to imagine Timonium UMC without his presence. He will be hugely missed by many friends, and his wonderful family that meant the world to him.  Rest In Peace dear faithful servant. Blessings to all the family, Pastor Francie Dailey

I met Bruce only once. That was 4 yrs ago at the Smith family reunion.  That one meeting caused me to feel I knew him a long time. We were constructing a jig saw puzzle.  I had a paper cup on which I placed my initials. BW. "Hey," said Bruce. " I'm BW, you can't be BW".  And thus a friendship began albeit long distance.


So sorry to hear about Uncle Bruce. 

Sadly I won’t be able to make it to see all my cousins. I’m stuck in Japan for another 10 days. 

Know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. 

One of my favorite memories is a trip we took to Timonium some summer. Don’t even remember when it was, but we were all no older than 9 or 10 and Uncle Bruce had the old ice cream tub filled with lemon sherbet and was looking for some help cranking the handle. 

Us kids would take turns for about 2 minutes, then got tired of it and wanted to know when it was done so that we could have some. Little did we know how much effort it took to get that ice cream churned and hard. 

It didn’t matter to Uncle Bruce. He just kept cranking until it was done. All the while with a smile on his face. 

I’m gonna miss you Uncle Bruce. There a hole in a lots of hearts right about now from the loss of one of the nicest persons I’ve ever known. 

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know that Bruce was a loving husband, father and grandfather and that he leaves an empty space in your family. Bruce and Carol were our bowling and golf (for Matt) friends and we enjoyed their company immensely.  May you find comfort in the lovely memories you have of your long years of being together.
