She was the cherished daughter of the late Carolyn and Emerson Reed. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s in mathematics. While still in college she married her high school sweetheart, William “Bill” Bonas. They had originally met at Towson Jr. High school and were both avid swimmers at Roland Run Club. They raised two children together. Carol was a hard worker starting her career at her father’s company, Reed’s Refrigeration, at 14 yrs old. She started as a file clerk and worked up through management, later leaving to become an HR manager and part owner of LH Cranston, then on to Rommel Cranston before finally retiring in 2015. Always active, Carol was a member of various organizations, the Mt. Carmel Homemakers Club, the Prettyboy Trail Riding club, the Biotreck Naturalists, US Green Building Council, Associated Builders and Contractors of Baltimore. Always the learner, Carol earned her LEADS certifications and also took classes in a wide variety of activities including fly-fishing, the history of wines, and NRA marksmanship courses (earning expert marksmanship levels). She was an avid gardener taking a lot of pride in her very prosperous vegetable gardens, a love that passed on to both of her children. She also was a Brownie, Girl Scout, and 4-H leader. She coached softball. She loved her animal’s horses, dogs, cats and various other critters that graced the home at one point or another. With all that activity she still loved quiet moments, spending evenings in the sunroom with Bill, reading books and working sudoku puzzles. She was passionate about ensuring that everyone had access to books.
Carol is survived by her husband Bill, her children Greg (Kim), and Tammy (Randy), her beloved grandchildren; Lacy (Adam) and Colton (Courtney) and 4 great grandchildren. She cherished all of them. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
