On May 19th, 2025 Carolyn Ensor-Litvak, born on August 12, 1936 in Baltimore, MD, passed away peacefully. A true equestrian extraordinaire, she lived and breathed for animals, dedicating her life to their care, training, and companionship.
As a skilled dog trainer, groomer, boarder, and shower, Carolyn broke new ground as the first person to name a “Tracking Dog.” Her talents carried her all the way to the prestigious Westminster Dog Show and she was featured on WBAL for her remarkable achievements.
Carolyn rode with pride as a fox hunter with the Elkridge-Harford Hunt Club and her passion led her to ride alongside legends like Dallas Leith.
Her presence graced Madison Square Garden, where she won Best in Show with her beloved Weimaraner and her legacy in the canine and equestrian worlds is nothing short of iconic.
Carolyn had a love for life’s simple pleasures—crabs, pizza, and cheeseburgers—and while her days were full of action, she cherished her quiet time just as deeply. Carolyn met each day with the same strength and authenticity embodied in her favorite quote: “To thine own self be true.”
Carolyn is survived by her sister, Kathleen Thompson, great friend and neighbor Stephanie Donner, her caregiver of many years, Lorraine Wells, the Rutledge and Bunting families, her beloved standard poodle Dani, and Shiloh her horse.
A Memorial gathering will be held on Saturday June 28th from 10:30 am to 11 am at Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley Inc., where a service will then begin at 11 am.
