Carolyn Ann Kleintank

Carolyn Ann Pfadenhauer was born November 26, 1937 to Thomas and Helen Haley Pfadenhauer at 11:52 AM at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She was baptized on December 12, 1937 at St. Katherines Roman Catholic Church. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 14, 2018.

She grew up in Baltimore with three brothers Thomas, Robert and Phillip. She attended Seton High School where she was active on the debate team. As a young woman she also sang and participated in USO Talent Shows entertaining the troops.

Carolyn married Richard Carr Kleintank on June 28, 1958 in Baltimore City. Together they had five children; Michele, Ginny, Rick, Shawn and Sheila. They raised their family first on Ridge Road in Catonsville and later at 1116 Greenway Road in Cockeysville where Carolyn made her home for the rest of her life.

Her many interests and hobbies included; sewing, ceramics, gardening, knitting, crocheting and cooking. Her greatest passion, however, was her writing - which was greatly affected by the death of her son, Shawn, just shy of his 16th birthday. She wrote many poems, stories, a children’s book and a book entitled, “Conversations with Caesar” published under the pseudonym of Carolyn Evers.

One of Carolyn's great loves was travel. Egypt, Italy, Peru and France were just a few of her destinations. The events she reminisced most about were “having tea with the Bedouin”, “riding a camel in Egypt”, sitting on the steps of the Great Pyramid”, “traveling down the Nile on a riverboat”, “touring the castles of France”, “getting lost at Machu Pichu”, and “having coffee in the Italian cafes, while people watching”. She always had many stories to tell about her amazing adventures.

Carolyn started her career as a secretary in a large insurance agency and began studies to acquire licensing to sell mutual funds and securities. Being the resourceful woman she was, she began a part time career in the evenings as an in home sales consultant with Bee Line Fashions to help support her growing family. She excelled in selling insurance to the underprivileged and under served, particularly single mothers. It was a passion of hers to be certain that every advantage was available to them. She continued to educate herself until she achieved the status of Licensed Estate Planner in 2003 at the age of 66, an outstanding achievement when few women were working in that field.

Later in life Carolyn and Dr. Richard Presser, a friend of many years, began an international endeavor called Cosmic Connections. Cosmic Connections primary goal was to help improve the quality of life of individuals by providing emotional healing and spiritual support through their radio call in shows, newsletters and many other publications. This remained a passion of her into her late 70’s, and came to an end due to her declining health.

Carolyn is survived by her children; Michele and Warren Keiner, Ginny and Richard King, Rick and Helen Kleintank, Sheila and Jerry Pinkas, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Helen Pfadenhauer, and parents in law, Edward and Mary Virginia Finnegan, husband Richard Carr Kleintank, and son Shawn Kleintank.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the LEMMON FUNERAL HOME OF DULANEY VALLEY INC., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, MD 21093 on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 11:00am-12:30pm where Catholic Prayers will be celebrated immediately at 12:30pm. Interment Private.
