I am so very sorry for your loss.  I just found out today.  It feels like I saw Casey not long ago - I dropped off some fresh rolled oats for him at the shop last fall.  I don't get to the area much so today when I was in town I stopped and saw the shop was closed and that's how I arrived here.  He was such an incredible person and we had many good conversations.

I remember when Wookie Walkers first opened, my dad and I were some of the first to visit and say hello. We stood and talked for nearly half an hour about games, comics, and RPGs, bonding over our interest in DND, mainly. When I heard how passionate he was, it made me want to indulge deeper in the community. Casey inspired me, and so many other kids, teens, and adults to follow their passions and have a place in the community where they weren't judged.  Thank you, Casey, your family, friends, and community will miss you greatly, and we will all remember the amazing impact you left on all of us.

Casey had a smile that couldn’t help but make one smile.
“Miss Cami”, Casey’s mother, was an extraordinary woman, who provided in home daycare. It was a home where children were cared for ,  with her  own children wandering through, as well as her companion “Mr.Tom”.
Miss Cami provided structured, loving care with a dash of The Monkeys and Cher for dance parties.
Her own children wandered in and out  providing  welcoming smiles and information regarding their “passions”.
Casey was a part of this.
He will be missed by the entire Olert family.
The Meyers family is an important part of  whom The Olert children are today.
I thank you as their mother and I am sure  Stephen thanks you as well.

Casey was always so kind and helpful to my son, Jonathan. Jonathan started to to go to Wookie Walkers a little bit over a year ago, going on Fridays  and Sundays quickly turning into his favorite time of the week. Casey has been a postive influence on Jonathan, teaching him and taking time with him to pass on knowledge and look up products. Casey and the whole Wookie Walkers community has a special place in my heart.

Casey always made goofy faces… one of my favorite things about him.  That and he would randomly break out in song and  dance.

I think what struck me the most is that I used to only come to Wookie Walkers once a few months. Not often enough for most people to recognize another, but I think he did with me, and even if he didn't he was that type of person who was easy to converse with. The past year has had a lot of ups and downs for me, but I am thankful for being given an opportunity to connect with other Dungeons and Dragons nerds because of the community Casey helped to build. I may not have known him well, but he was important. My deepest condolences to those who were closer to him. And just so it's known, in 2021, he was handing out drawings that his daughter drew. I chose a Pikachu, and it's been on my wall ever since, signed GEM.

Our library family at Emmitsburg Library are all so truly sorry to hear about Casey.  We first met Casey several years ago when he had just opened Wookiee Walkers in Emmitsburg. He was warm, enthusiastic and extremely excited about building relationships in the community and quickly agreed to work with us. We have continued that relationship ever since. At our summer festival of 2022, Casey chatted with kids, handing out comic books with a huge smile on his face and his bike leaning against the post.  We will always remember him for his joyful and warm spirit.

I am very sorry to hear of Casey's passing. However, I sincerely appreciate all he and Amber have done for our small community of Emmitsburg, including getting local youth interested and involved in DnD. Wookie Walkers is such a unique addition to our town, and I'm glad I got the chance to know Casey. You will be missed.

Casey, as I knew him, was the owner of Wookie Walkers MD. He helped me through my surgery in giving me books and helped spark my love for D&D and fantasy. I just wish I could have paid him back for what he has done for me.

I met Casey very soon after he opened Wookie Walkers in Emmitsburg, and made it a point to stop by every chance I got.  He was a fun guy to talk to and to share gaming experiences with, and I was extremely pleased to see how fast his business grew, considering the challenges from the COVID pandemic. It saddens me deeply that he has now passed and will miss his smile and enthusiasm for the Star Wars universe and the gaming, fantasy role-play, and comic book hobbies.  Rest in peace, Casey, and...may the Force be with you...always!

I went into Wookie Walkers maybe a month or two ago because I saw an awesome Star Wars jigsaw puzzle in the window. It was so cool to see that there was a little shrine to Star Wars right in Emmitsburg! I did not know Casey personally but I'm grateful for the enrichment he provided to a small town's atmosphere. Just from being in the shop once, I could tell that this was a little place providing a safe haven to many people with nerdy/fannish interests and I am sure the desire to provide that for people comes from a place of warm love and care. My sincere condolences to Casey's friends and family-- I will pray that you will feel the strength and comfort of God's love for his child Casey.

I am grieving with you, but also celebrating Casey's life.  I am a random comic book reader from Frederick who happened to stop into Casey's new shop to find some specific issue that my local comic store did not have.  Casey greeted me immediately with a smile and an eagerness to help me find that specific issue I was looking for.  I found myself stopping in several times after that, eager to find that new treasure and to talk to him.  He would always go out of his way to help me find what I was looking for.  Then we would engage in some other conversations about comics, gaming, family, and life.  He was such a joy to talk to and he made my life better.  Thank you for sharing him with me.

We are incredibly saddened at the news of Casey’s passing and our sympathies are with his loved ones in this time of grief.

I'm so sorry for your and our community's loss. I went into Wookie Walkers to check it out and instead of odd looks that a female has entered, Casey was warm and welcoming. He was truly a kind human and the community will feel his loss. I'm very sorry that he left all his friends and family way too early- i hope fond memories will help you heal over time.

Casey lived with me and my best friend for a while.  He married and had children with one of my sisters best friends till this day.  I remember so many good times with him.  Later in life he suffered and his death has really hit me harder than I thought.  When he was himself he was one of the best people I ever knew.  We lost him way too soon.
