Family was the absolute center of her world. A woman of profound faith, she was a dedicated parishioner of Our Lady of Grace in Parkton and St. Joseph Church in Cockeysville. Even when she became homebound, her devotion never wavered; she faithfully joined her church communities online, ensuring her spiritual life remained vibrant and connected.
Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and hospitality. An exceptional cook and baker, she loved nothing more than entertaining a house full of loved ones. Her creativity shone brightly through her passions; she was incredibly skilled at sewing and loved to make clothing for her family. She also possessed a deep love for art and spent countless hours creating beautiful ceramics, often crafting special pieces meant to be passed down to her children and extended family.
While she was deeply artistic, she was famously and affectionately not a great photographer. Her family will forever chuckle remembering her tendency to accidentally cut off the tops of people's heads in snapshots, an endearing trademark of her photos.
Among her favorite pastimes were lively games of Pinochle with close friends. Following the passing of her beloved husband, she found joy and adventure in exploring the world, traveling far and wide with her dear friend, Chris. She also found joy in watching reality talent shows and game shows with family and especially enjoyed watching singing competitions with her daughter Stacey. Of all the days in the year, Thanksgiving held a particularly sacred place in her heart, a time when her twin loves of family and cooking came together in perfect harmony.
Chotsie was the loving wife of the late Edwin S. Scherer, Jr. devoted mother of Stacey A. Dietz and her husband David, Michael S. Scherer and his wife Deborah, and the late Edwin “Ed” Scherer and Stephen P. Scherer; dear sister of the late John, Skip, Mary and Charlie; cherished grandmother of Crystal, Rachel, Eric, Emma, Nicholas and the late Sandra Leigh Ann; Also survived by great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She will be profoundly missed, but her warmth, her independent spirit, and her devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family will receive friends at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Saturday, July 11 from 2 to 3pm at which time Chotsie’s life will be celebrated at 3PM. Interment Private.
