Dave was the best brother-in-law! He was dependable, funny, kind, supportive and the one to call in any emergency or crisis.
Dave was the "gadget guy" who had to explore every new watch or electronic game. He got me hooked forever when he gave me my first electronic game years ago when I had cancer.
Dave planned our first trip "out West". In 5 days we went 2000 miles in a Corolla - from San Francisco to Bridgeport, Yosemite to Monterey. It was the trip that truly changed my life, and I have gone back "out West" every year since.
I am so happy Dave is no longer suffering and in pain, but so, so sad he didn't get to enjoy his retirement or see his grandchild grow up. I am certain he will be looking out for all of us from "the other side" and I plan to call on him often!
We will miss you, Hon!

Sorry to hear about your passing. You were a good person Dave. Always giving great advice and support. Great family man. Miss our days when you and Mary and I would play basketball and tennis. If it weren't for you and Mary staying on me when I was young I wouldn't be where I am today!
May you rest easy and pain free now and be the Angel you are now looking over your Family and Friends. You truely will be missed by many.

Dear Mary and Family:
So very sorry for your loss; may your loving memories of Dave provide healing strength and peace during such a difficult time. My family and I met Dave years ago when Dave would walk Jetson through the neighborhood and by our house. He was always happy to stop for a few minutes to chat with us, and as time went on, we formed a friendship that we will cherish always. He was one of the most friendly, upbeat, and positive people we know. My wife, Stefanie, and Dave formed a special bond as they were both battling a demon called “cancer.” They shared stories about their journey frequently. Dave never focused on his own struggles; instead, he was always encouraging and insisted that Stefanie was providing him with inspiration. Dave holds a special place in our hearts and will be greatly missed. Our most sincere condolences to the entire Wonneman family.
Love,
The Vlk’s

I had the absolute pleasure of knowing Dave for so many years during his work with Maryland P&P and through his career with the US Probation and Pretrial Office. Dave had genuine compassion and dedicated so much of his life to improving the lives of others. His legacy continues in so many ways. I'm honored to have worked with such a wonderful person. My thoughts, ongoing support, and prayers are with the family.

We were deeply saddened to hear the news of Dave's passing.
Personally, I got to know Dave pretty well, as we mowed lawns together, chatted about everything from sports to politics, our pets and families etc....
Dave was a wonderful neighbor who would help me with anything and became an even better friend.
We're glad he has to suffer no longer and like anyone else who knew him, will miss him dearly.
May you rest in eternal peace my friend.
With Much Love,
Steve and JoAnn Sausnock

One couldn't meet a person better than Dave. I was happy when he reappeared in my life years later after leaving P&P at Guilford Avenue.
We shared the fear and uncertainty of medical issues and hospitalizations. He clued me in whenever possible.
I am glad that he is no longer suffering and overwhelmingly sorry for his family.

It’s hard, if not impossible, to express the sadness of the loss of such a good friend. We often shared personal concerns and would lean on each other. He was gifted with both keen insight and compassion. A strong rock to his family as well. Dave, you will be in my and Karen’s thoughts as long as we live.

Aaron and Nicole, Please know that I am thinking of you and your family at this sad time. I know how important family is to you and I know how special your dad was. (I still remember him buying popcorn from my son every year before he retired). David Wonneman was such a dynamic person, a great supervisor and a man of integrity and grace. While the bond you share makes the loss of your family member even more painful, I hope it can also be a source of strength in your grief. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss. If there is anything that you need please do not hesitate to call me.
"He Heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name." Psalms 147:3-4
May God Bless and comfort your family during your time of grief.

Like everyone who knew Dave I was terribly saddened to hear of his way too early passing. I worked with Dave for many years until my retirement and I was privileged to have him as part of our management team. Dave was always a class act. I’ll remember many staff meetings when things sometimes got a little heated. Dave was always the voice of reason. He was quick to relieve the tension with some levity be it a joke or, more often, some logical idea that nobody else had thought of. I’ll always be happy to think of Dave as a respected colleague and a friend.

I have so many great memories of Dave, but what I'll remember the most is that he always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say. Dave was such a wonderful person that just simply having a casual conversation with him made everyone's day a bit better. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Wonneman family.

David and I went through a lot together; we even ended up marrying women who only lived a block apart. We started at Parkville High School playing baseball together. Truth be known I would not have been on the varsity baseball team as a senior if David hadn't stuck with track. That was the beginning of our lifelong friendship. I was honored to be the best man at Dave and Mary's wedding, and honored, always, to be his friend. I remember how happy Dave was when Aaron was born and then his granddaughter.
Despite working day in and day out with Md. Citizens who had rough edges and who had made wrong turns in life, Dave remained one of the kindest and most decent people I ever known. I will always remember David , for the great person and friend he is. I will miss you, buddy

Uncle Dave,
There is so much about you look back on and smile about.
I will miss catching up at family parties - you were a fixture at them and I can't recall many you didn't make it to.
I will miss watching dem O's with you and grandpop, both of you taking turns letting the umps know just how awful that last call really was.
I will miss your terrible, *terrible* jokes - still getting the biggest laugh or earning the groan you were after. You had absolutely mastered the art.
I will miss seeing your eyes light up watching your adorable granddaughter playing around and getting into trouble. I am so glad that you got the chance to get to know her.
You have been a positive part of my life since the very beginning, and I will miss you dearly.

I worked with Dave for many years at the U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services office in the District of Maryland. He was one of the most kind and caring persons I have ever met. He was always upbeat ready to listen. He always ask about your family. His family was so important to him. His little granddaughter brought him so much joy. I am proud to call him my friend. Rest in peace now Dave and know that you were loved by many people. May his family be comforted by their memories of him. Condolences to his family.

Uncle Dave,
Thank you for countless beautiful memories. Whether we were hiking, kayaking, playing basketball, or simply watching an orioles game, it was always a blast spending time with you. The sense of adventure and positivity you instilled in me and so many others in the family will live on forever.
You taught me many life lessons, with the most important being to not take life too seriously and to share laughs with the people you love. You truly were a great man, and I’m forever grateful to have had you as not only an uncle, but a father figure in my life. I love you so much, Uncle Dave. Fly high.
Love,
Drew

My Uncle Dave was an amazing man, through and through. From the time I was a baby, him and my Aunt Mary were always involved in my life whether it be through family parties, taking me to concerts, or just letting me stay the weekend with them. I have so many amazing memories of all the hikes Uncle Dave took us on, and the thousands of jokes he would tell that always made me laugh. Not to mention how he would always pull my hair, and look around like it was someone else who did it (even though I always knew it was him lol). You couldn't be in a bad mood around him- it just wasnt possible. I will miss him so so so much, but I will never forget him and the things he has done for my family and I. I am so thankful for the time we have had with him, and everything Ive learned from him. Rest in peace Uncle Dave, we love you.

We were truly blessed to have Dave and Mary as the cool Uncle and Aunt who supported our kids every step o f the way and were always involved with their lives. Dave’s support of Granny and Grandpop as well as many other family members in times of need will never be forgotten. You were a great guy and your spirit and love for getting outside and doing something fun will live on forever thru us!

I am so, so sad about Dave's passing. We worked together for many years. He was always so kind and generous with his time. Dave and I would often talk about our families and he was so proud of his family. More recently, he would send me pictures of his beloved granddaughter. He was clearly smitten with her. My condolences to Mary, Aaron, and Nicole. May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing.

Uncle Dave, I love you so much. I am so grateful for everything that you have ever done for me and my mom. There was never a time when there was a family crisis that you and Aunt Mary did not show up and offer your support and love. You always did everything without wanting any praise for it you just did it because you knew it had to get done. As Grandpop would have said, "your one if the good guys you wore a white hat". You were the first one to ever throw a baseball with me when I was a kid and I will never forget it, god needed another angel in the outfield and he got one of the best. Love you always and forever-Little Timmy

Dave - you were one of the good guys. Family first and the most honest person I have ever met. You were kind and generous and had such compassion for kids, yours and mine. I am honored to call you my friend.
When I think of you though, I think of "Love Riot" and meeting you and Mary at Cafe Tattoo on Belair Road to hear them. We may have been the only ones without body art or that did not ride a motorcycle there, but nonetheless we rocked!
I will miss you.
