Dot is survived by her Domestic Partner and best friend, Rosemary Ellen Plummer, and sister Rosie Bunny (David Lee) Wilmoth. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Margaret Attwell and her brother Robert.
The Attwell family lived in Burbank, California and Dot graduated from John Burrough High School in 1964. She moved to Maryland in 1976 after falling in love with the east coast scenery and rich American history ready to be explored. Dot was a dependable employee of Hereford Middle School and High School, working as a custodian for 30 years, retiring in 2012.
All her life, Dot was active and athletic, involved in bowling, volleyball, and swimming. She was qualified to swim in the Olympics in the 1960's. Dot loved to play cards and other games with Rosemary and was a TV gameshow wiz. A life-long learner, Dot referenced her Jeopardy desk calendar every morning for 28 years. She was a proud patriot who loved eagles, flags and other American tributes.
In her spare time Dot enjoyed watching movies, reading books and listening to classic music such Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys and John Denver. She loved eating out at Italian and Mexican restaurants and always had a sweet tooth. Dot was a longtime member of the Chesapeake Bay Association of the deaf (CBAD) and Maryland Presbyterian Church.
Dot will be remembered for her beautiful smile, warm conversations, and deep connection to others. She made the world a brighter place and will be missed dearly.
Donations may be made in her honor to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) or Maryland Presbyterian Church in Towson, MD.
A Memorial Service will be held to honor Dot and her brother Robert at a later date.
