It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Dudley Garris Davis, on April 12, 2026, age 90, born January 24, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dudley came from humble beginnings in Irvington, Baltimore city, Maryland. Through his strong will, hard work, and numerous diverse talents, he became a man recognized for his many contributions in the educational, corporate, and arts environments.

He received his BA degree from the Maryland State Teachers College at Towson and went on to teach at Catonsville High school. During this time, he earned his master’s degree from University of Baltimore. In the summers, during his teaching years, he worked as a Tennis Professional at the Gibson Island club.

He later left his teaching career to join PHH as Director of the Corporate Training and Communications department and then worked several years at Barton Gillet. Eventually he decided to lead his own Business Marketing and Management company, Davis Consulting, and was an adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University, and was a long-standing member of the St. Michaels Art League.

Dudley’s many interests and talents included being an artist, tennis professional, sailor, woodworker, home builder, renovator, poet, and writer. He also generously volunteered his time at Habitat for Humanity on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and Meals on Wheels in Baltimore among other charitable and arts organizations.

Dudley was married to Amy Davis Gold until 1993 with whom he had two children, Howard Dubansky and Alison Davis.

He was subsequently remarried to Gwendolyn Cameron with whom he shared a loving and fun-filled life together. Through this marriage, Dudley gained two stepchildren, David and Andrew Cameron, and step daughter-in-law, Sophie Cameron.

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Parker and Logan Dubansky, and his step-grandchild, Sophie Cameron, a brother-in-law Russell Phillippi, two nieces Carol Velivlus and Andy Herman and their families, and son-in-law Web Barney. He was preceded in death by his sister Joan Phillippi and his loving mother, Anne Hood Davis.
