Francis "Frank" Edward Schene, Jr.

Born and raised in Catonsville, Maryland, Frank graduated from Mount St. Joseph High School in 1957. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia ("Patsy"), whose life was tragically cut short just a few years into their marriage.

Frank built a long and successful career in technology. In the late 1960s, he worked for Alexander Brown & Sons, where he met his second wife, Joy. Together they built a home in Harford County and shared many happy years.

Throughout his career, Frank worked as a programmer for TMS, Gilmer Moving & Storage in Aberdeen, and later Paul Arpin Van Lines, where he continued working well into his 70s—a testament to his dedication and strong work ethic.

Outside of work, Frank enjoyed bowling at Bel Air Lanes and Forest Hill Lanes, admired a good sports car, and cherished every opportunity to drive his grandchildren to the ice rink, baseball field, and football field. He especially loved being known as "Pop Pop," not only to his own grandchildren but also to all their friends.

Frank is survived by his children, Mark Schene and his wife, Becky, John Schene, Kelly Groft and her husband Jay. He also leaves behind three grandchildren whom he loved with his whole heart: Ashleigh Green, Hannah Groft, and Camden Groft. His faithful Boxer, Penny, also survives him.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Green; his first wife, Patsy; his brother, John; and his parents, Marie and Francis Schene, Sr.

Frank will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his unwavering work ethic, and the love and joy he brought to everyone who knew him.

His children invite family and friends to celebrate Frank's life at Lemmon Funeral Home 10 W. Padonia Road 21030 on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 3:00-7:00 pm for a Memorial Gathering.

A private burial will be held at New Cathedral Cemetery in Baltimore.
