GEORGE MICHAEL EPPLE passed away on May 9, 2014. Born in Baltimore on December 24, 1928, son of the late Helen and George Epple. He was a 1946 graduate of Patterson Park High School. He served in the United States Army with the 2nd Engineering Special Brigade and the First Financial Disbursement Center at Inchon and Yong Dong Po during the Korean War until October 1952.
He graduated from the University of Baltimore in1955 and became a certified Public Accountant in 1957. Mr. Epple worked for Anchor Post Products, Inc. for 33 years rising from a last accountant to financial Vice President. He later worked for CSX Railroad in Baltimore for 12 years as administrative services manager and retired in 1994.
During his career he was active in volunteerism serving on the Boards of the Maryland Special Olympics, University of Baltimore Alumni Association, Various CSX Projects and the Corporate Volunteers Counsel of Central Maryland. He received the Governors Salute to Excellence award in 1994. Mr. Epple was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife Doris Epple ( nee Bowers); children Michael Epple and his wife Kathy, Donna Rosenhoover; grandchildren Rachel, Hannah, Sarah, Katie, Seth; sister Leona Upton , sister in law Lois Backus; Nephews and nieces Cynthia Gibson ( Cary), Scott Upton ( Peggy) , Stephanie Backus.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc.,10 W. Padonia Road ( at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Church, 101 Church Lane, Cockeysville,Md.21030, on Tuesday, May 13 at 10:00am. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
