Super doctor. All the pregnant nurses went to him and dr Harold elberfeld at fsh.  They only wanted the best nurses and anesthesiologists  in with them. His wife Carole a pure delight.

Dr. Glowacki built the department almost from ground zero on the basis of innovation and excellence.  For example, I don’t think we would have had epidural anesthesia or birthing rooms as early as we did without him.  When other hospitals were telling their patients how  risky epidurals were, he was insisting our anesthesiologists offer them.  Even innovations that never really became mainstream (e.g. birthing chair, Odent room) demonstrated to the community how patient (women) friendly our department was.  At a time in history when physician expertise was (let us say) more variable than it is today, he was forceful when he had to be.  But he always encouraged learning and improvement.  He did not tolerate physician insolence or ineptitude.  He built the department and also in so many ways he built the hospital to what it is today.  The health of so many women in the community was better off not only because of his care but also his training and mentoring of young physicians.  Few of our local doctors will ever make as great a contribution to our community as he did.

Dr “G” as he was fondly  called by many was a great teacher , surgeon and mentor. He was a very unique , tough and caring program director and took his teaching responsibilities seriously. He was the first person to arrive at morning rounds and was never absent for the  four years I was in training. In my final year Dr Glowacki would often help me review my job offer contracts and steered me away from tricky contracts. He was ever providing career guidance and was ready to assist when needed. It was on his recommendation that I went on to purse an MPH. He ranks among the top 2% of exceptional program directors in the country. He was my moms physician. May his soul Rest In Peace.

I was sorry to hear about Jerry's passing. He and were colleagues and contemporaries for years here in Baltimore. He was a good man and a fine physician. I cannot attend as I have just contracted Covid. Please accept my condolences for his family.

Even though I did not train at Franklin Square Dr Glowacki offered to assist me in reviewing for the boards. He was a great chief an excellent surgeon and ran that department better than anybody before or since. He was a giant!!he will be missed!

Carole, I am so sorry. As Head of the Dept of OB/GYN and Residency Director at Franklin Square, Dr G was at teaching rounds virtually every morning. I remember one of my first days as an intern I got in & mistakenly sat in “his chair”.  Fortunately someone told me before he arrived! He was a wise mentor, always making you question why you were doing something and asking if you could do it better. It was a privilege to have trained under him. 
Also, my condolences for Karen. I did not know she had passed away.
