

On October 24th, Helen Margaret Blakey, age 80, of Middle River, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord. She was born on April 28, 1945, in El Paso, TX to Marvin and Margaret Volpel. She is survived by her sister, Kathryn Weinel (nee Volpel) and brother-in-law Bruce Weinel. She was a loving aunt to David Weinel, Mark Weinel, and Jennifer Weinel, and many great nieces and nephews.
Helen graduated from Western Maryland College with a degree in mathematics and later earned another degree in music from Towson University.
Helen was deeply devoted to her family and friends and cherished the time spent with them, especially during the holidays. She loved to vacation with the family and enjoyed playing card games and all other types of games. She became an avid tournament duplicate bridge player as well as a Life Master, Director, and Instructor of the game at a young age.
She had a passion for music, was a gifted pianist, and a deeply devoted church choir soprano and handbell ringer. Helen cherished dogs, especially her Weimaraners, and always enjoyed taking them to dog shows. In her spare time, she also enjoyed knitting and all types of needlework.
The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road), Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 1:00 to 1:45 pm , after which time a Funeral Service will be held. Interment , at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
