Jim was a talented writer and a true professional. I can still hear him saying --"Now Diane you don't want to say that." And then he go back to his computer and write an elegant statement and ask if this is what I really meant. And it was always much better. While working with Jim at ACB it was obvious he loved his work but that he loved his family more--always willing to talk about his grandkids. A gentleman and a gentle man--Jim will be missed. He was the kind of person that made a difference--he made one for me. His family has my deepest sympathy and prayers.

News of Jim’s passing has saddened me, but a smile crossed my face when I remembered his enduring love for his children and grandchildren.

For seven years at ACB, Jim was a most welcoming, gracious and supportive colleague. I am still in awe of his detailed knowledge of the banking industry.

My sincere condolences.

My deepest sympathies to Jim's family. I had the honor of working with Jim at the American Bankers Association, and he was a quintessential gentleman, superb journalist and the kindest guy I ever met. The world is diminished by his passing.

I am sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I got to know him during my first job out of college and will always remember his kindness. Those kinds of relationships have a way of sticking with a person for many years. Jim was a Renaissance man (although we never did see eye-to-eye on the Oxford Comma), and he spoke often of his children. My condolences to the Eberle family during this very sad time.

My earliest memories of Jim go back nearly 25 years at [then] America's Community Bankers and their summer company picnics. Everyone brought their families and many of us had children around the same age; it was always the Eberle, Katz, Schmermund, Causey and Call children off playing together! Jim was an excellent writer and well loved and respected by his co-workers at the American Bankers Association. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched, and that is many. May he rest in peace.

Heartfelt condolences,

Karen Call and his ABA Family
