It was my great pleasure to get to know Jim over the past year and a half. We played bingo, horse racing, Family Feud, did arts and crafts, and one day we colored in his room. When we went to activities he was known as 'lucky Jim'. He was always a gentleman and offered me some of whatever food or snacks he was eating. Over the many months he came to enjoy the haircuts I gave him and starting falling asleep. I loved taking pictures and videos and making him laugh.

My sincere condolences to the entire family. He will be missed.

We will all truly miss Mr. Jim here at Manor Care! What a wonderful man he was.

RDear Barbara, I thought I could make it tonight but a severe case of  bronchitis has flattened me.
I want you to know what a great guy your dad was; we' d been friends since the 1950s.
We were in a Revolutionary War Round Table with Dr. Floyd Flickinger, and had some fun discussions.
I visited the Arbutus "manor house" several times for tours of his restoration and collections. Great fun!
He was also a fixture at the Maryland Antique Arms club and the annual gun show. He was so knowledgeable those things.
When I visited him at the nursing home I took some photos. He remembered everything.
My thoughts are with you and your family at this very sad time. But the fond memories of your dad with comfort you in the future.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our Sons of Confederate Veterans Compatriot Jim Knowles.  Jim was always a wonderful man to be around.  He was an expert on American arms and other antiques.  He was a veteran of  World War II serving in the United States Navy . We will all  miss and remember him.

Please accept our sincere sympathy. Jim and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Dad,

I miss you already. The twinkle in your eyes and usual greeting "Hi What is happening". 
You always were ready and looking forward to each day with enthusiasm. Everyone liked your friendly low key manner and you fun sense of humor. Your knowledge of history and maritime information was amazing. 
You enjoyed staying busy and had such varied interests in collecting antique arms, furniture, pen knives, antique candle sticks, slipwAre pottery, decoys, coins, stamps, etc.

We will all miss you Including your adorable great granddaughters Cora and Laine. Whatever you saw your final day on earth must have been special, because your last words were"Wonderful" and a wonderful well lived life you have had . Love you always! Barbara
