I also just heard this very devastating news. I am heart broken. She was my mentor and friend at Provident and always made me smile. She was a talented writer and loyal to preserving Provident Bank's history. She will be missed.

I'm just found out that Janet passed away, and I'm shocked and heart broken. Janet was one of the most kind, loving, supportive, and genuine people I've ever met. I worked with her at Provident Bank. She was a friend, a mentor, a secret keeper, and an inspiration. She was so patient with me, took me under her wing, and believed in me when others didn't. I haven't seen or talked to Janet in years; we occasionally exchanged FB messages, but she was and will always be in a special place in my heart. Heaven is a better place now that Janet is there. Janet Swartz was a very very nice person always smiling, kind hearted  and ready to lend a hand. It was a pleasure to work with her on special projects at Provident Bank. I thank God for the time we shared. May her soul rest in peace. Leslie Johnson

I was so shocked to hear of Janet's passing.  We shared birthdays and a beautiful friendship since the 1970s when we worked at Stewart's Department store downtown.  She was a wonderful, happy person and a true friend.  We shared a lot of secrets and shared many laughs over them.  She will certainly be missed.

I just learned of Janet's passing from a colleague just a day ago. My heart just stopped. 

Janet and I were part of the public relations team at the former Provident Bank. What I remember most is that she always made sure we highlighted the Bank's best and its best people, but she was fairly private about celebrating herself. From volunteerism to special events, she would always make sure to ensure I "get a good photo." We had a mutual respect for each other and I loved her spirit. She had  no hesitation in getting you to share your story...and I enjoyed getting to know her. 

We lost touch after a few years, but ran into each other about a year ago. She was so happy to hear I had become a mother and was back in the banking world. I'm sorry we didn't talk longer, but glad to know her story is being shared by those who knew the beautiful person she was!

I was so very shocked when I heard of Janet's passing.  Janet and I have been friends for a very long time and we got our first apartment together.  Although we lost contact, when we reconnected it was like there was no time lost.  We have shared many good times over the years, from me taking her to her brother's wedding, our Wednesday nights at Club Venus, trips to New Jersey to visit with Kathy and Paula Scheve, Mamma Leone's in New York, and many, many more.  I just wish we were able to make more memories.  Rest in peace my friend.

I just heard that Janet has passed.  I can literally say I've known her all my life as she was my next door neighbor on Forest View Avenue.  Being a few years older, she started out as my "babysitter" and then, when I caught up a little in age, she became a good friend.  She was always lots of fun and was one of the most positive people I've known.  I'll always remember going to Mama Leone's in Little Italy in New York City with Janet, Kathy and Ann.  What an experience!  Janet, you are sorely missed.  Joanne, Russ, Randy and Robert, you are in my heart and I feel your loss.

It's hard to believe it's been a week since Janet left us, but I'm so very thankful she was taken out of the pain she was in. Janet was a very close friend to me. I enjoyed our talks, our trips, our dinners at Five and especially her support. I will miss her immensely, especially her smile and sense of humor.  She was one classy lady!   Janet was the kind of friend everyone wishes they had and I feel very blessed and thankful to have had her in my life.

Janet and I were roommates for a year and a half at U of M. No one ever had a better one. She was smart, kind, lively, and full of fun. She threw her arms open to life, cherished her family and friends, and had the most beautiful smile and infectious laughter. Over the years, we lost touch, but she still has a special place in my heart. She'd send cards at Christmas, and we'd say we should really get together. I wish we had. Good night, sweet friend, and "flights of angels sing thee to thy rest."

Janet entered my life as a party buddy at Club Venus.  We enjoyed many a Wednesday night dancing and laughing with Barb, often ending in a sleep over at the Swartz's.  It was Janet that introduced me to my husband, her brother Russ, and she would be my Maid of Honor at our wedding.   I then became a member of Janet's family.  In all the time I have known her, she was never a negative person.  I will always remember her laughter and her love of communication.  As her friend and family, it was time for me to let her go on her own path when she gave her beautiful end of life speech to the family.  Janet had no regrets.  I have no regrets in letting her go to a better life; I will see her on the other side.

I met Janet in 1966 at the U. Of MD. We have remained friends all these years. She's one of those special people whom you can (unfortunately) not see or talk to for a while, but when you do it's as though there has been no time apart.

When I heard, I just said, "Awwww."

Janet has been a kind, considerate, faithful friend since we first met in 1982. Along with another colleague, we managed to forge many wonderful memories over the past 30+ years. She will be missed very much.

A woman of intellect, beauty, creativity, humor, compassson and humility. A loyal friend. I will miss sharing stories, music, football and baseball with you. I will miss your laugh, your sparkly eyes, your smile and fabulous earrings. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends. Peace.

Janet was my mother's cousin, and the sister she never had. She was a very special person. We were blessed to have her in our lives. Rest in peace, Janet.

I miss Janet's sweet soul. She was a dear friend since U of MD days. 
Oh the stories from those days!  She made them all richer!
