Jean Carol Wills, 94, of Timonium, Maryland passed away peacefully, encircled by her husband and children at Stella Maris Hospice on September 9, 2026. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Her passionate love, keen mind and creativity will be greatly missed.
Jean was the daughter of Ephriam and Maude (Engle) Mast and sister to Harwood Mast. She lost each one way too early. Jean grew up in Baltimore and only moved away from Maryland after she met her husband of 33 years in an art class. The two of them embarked on a life of art making, travel and building a community of friends, family and faith in Lake Lure, North Carolina and Richmond, Virginia. They returned to Maryland in 2020 and joined the nation in hunkering down at home — theirs was at Mercy Ridge.
Home was essential to Jean, she was a master at making a beautiful home and inspired others to do the same. She spent two decades finding the perfect home for her real estate clients. In recent years, she loved going on long drives with her children, and at nearly every turn she could point out a house she had sold, remembering each family’s unique story.
The true bedrock for Jean was family. Nothing made her light up more than a visit from one of her seven great-grandchildren or six grandchildren. Her mantra to her four children was “You can do whatever you put your mind and effort towards” and she celebrated every accomplishment. She knitted together a tight family full of love and a good share of shenanigans.
Jean is survived by her faithful and loving husband, James E. Wills, sons: Steve Coppage (Suzette) and Jeff Coppage (Ann), daughters: Susan Evans (Leon), Lori Blair (Jeff), Grandchildren: Andrea Aquilla (Wilson), Whitney Beksinski (Chris), Jonathan Coppage, Julie Coppage, Jordan Blair (Erin), Emily Evans (David), Adrian Evans and Darcy Evans, Great-grandchildren: Oliver, Enzo, Roselyn, Silas, Levi, Lyra and Keegan,
Step-family: Denise Wills, Geri Wills, Felicity Wilson (Curt), John Wills (Denise), Kate Schroeder (Dave) Marty Wills (Julie), Bill Wills, Jim Wills, Chris, Matt, Jessica, Shannon, Seth, Bailey, Sarah, Claire, Caroline, and Bryan, Niece: Gina Mast (Sharon), Nephew: Greg Mast (Margie) and predeceased by stepson Joe Wills and great-grandchildren Noah Blair and Maeve Beksinski.
A celebration of Jean’s life and joyous expression of her redeeming Christian faith will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Stella Maris Chapel, 2300 Dulaney Valley Road, Timonium, MD 21093. Visitation with the family will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the chapel, prior to the service.
