Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Jerry was a proud graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. His talent on the football field and in the classroom earned him an academic and athletic scholarship. Following his graduation, he answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Army during the Korean War. Stationed in Hawaii, he served with distinction as a codebreaker locating the Pacific Fleet movement and getting information to DC — a role that reflected both his intellect and his sense of duty.
After his military service, Jerry pursued higher education at Harvard University and the University of Baltimore, where he continued to thrive academically. His professional life led him into the paper industry, where he built a long and respected career. He served as President of Baltimore Warner and was a Marketing advisory member with Hammermill Paper Company, earning a reputation for leadership, integrity, and dedication.
Upon retiring in 1996 at the age of 64, Jerry turned his full attention to what he loved most: serving others. Deeply rooted in Baltimore’s Little Italy community, he devoted countless hours to volunteer work, particularly through the St. Anthony Society. He was instrumental in growing the La Famiglia Scholarship fund, helping to raise more than $250,000 to support local students of Italian descent in their educational pursuits — a legacy that continues to impact generations.
A lifelong Maryland sports enthusiast, Jerry was an ardent supporter of the Baltimore Colts and a proud member of Colts Corral #3. He cherished his summers at the beach, where he found joy, peace, and family connection.
Above all, Jerry was devoted to his family and the many causes that enriched his community. His warmth, generosity, and steadfast faith will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
