John’s legacy is defined by a remarkable career in law enforcement. He retired as a Detective Sergeant for the Baltimore County Police Department after more than 30 years of distinguished and rewarding service. Throughout his rewarding career, John was known not only for his professionalism and commitment to justice but also for his legendary sense of humor. He was a master of the practical joke, always finding ways to bring a smile or a laugh to his colleagues during the long hours on the force.
Outside of his uniform, John was happiest in the great outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter and a passionate NASCAR fan who found peace and excitement in the rhythms of nature and the roar of the track. Whether he was in the woods or watching a race, he embraced the simple joys of life.
Above all, John adored his family. They were his greatest pride and his steady anchor. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, service, and an unwavering love for those closest to him. He was the loving husband of Shirley Mullendore for 62 years; devoted father of John R. “Randy” Mullendore and his wife Lora, Joni L. Banister; cherished grandfather of Grason Mullendore and his wife Katie, Jimmy Elmore, Tina Wood and her husband Curtis, Kristen Shaver and her husband Jake, and Christopher Gonzalez and his wife Jolene; Cherished Grandfather of 5 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great grandchildren.
