Mr Smith was a patient of mine. What a sweet and wonderfully kind man! He expressed to me extensively his love for his family and wife. He was going through so much but still was able to express appreciation in every little thing -he was truly something incredible. I’m so sorry to his family for this loss. We will keep you in our prayers!!!

From the very first time of meeting John Smith he was nothing but kind & always had a smile on his face & he was always welcoming, whether it would be at Baynesville or at family gatherings & he had such a nice calming voice & even though he was tall he wasn't intimidating! He will definitely be missed, but knowing he passed on his kindness & humbillness to his sons, his spirit will continue on & we are left with memories & if there is anything he taught his sons was to be humble & kind & that his son Paul will continue with that legacy & we are blessed to have known him & loved him & even though we won't see him.here on Earth knowing & praying we will meet again in Heaven. God Bless !

Love Patty & Frank Herzig

It’s hard to know where to begin when reminiscing on the countless memories we have of our incredible Pop Pop. I will be forever grateful for the lessons he taught us and the times we were blessed to share. My Pop Pop taught me the importance of embracing every moment, caring for others and making the best of every situation. I was always impressed by his positivity and joy- especially in the midst of adversity. His smile and loving personality could bring life and light to every conversation and to each family get together. Whenever you were in his presence, you knew you were important, cared about and loved. He was incredibly thoughtful, full of fun and had quite the fighting spirit. So many of the times I think back on now make me smile. His love of life will live on in his family and the many things I’ve learned from him will not be forgotten. Love you the most Pop pop.

Our family lost an amazing man that we were honored to call Dad, Pops, Pop Pop and the list goes on. This man was not only my father-in-law, but my second Dad. I saw and continue to see so many incredible qualities that my husband, Paul, learned from him; his love of family & friends, his faith, his sense of humor, his kind & caring spirit, and how could I forget, his love of silly humor movies (aka... Young Frankenstein , Airplane, etc...), not to mention, sporty cars. Although we will truly miss him, we are so relieved that he is no longer suffering.
John J. Smith, Jr. has gone home, so heaven can gain another angel. We will always love you, Dad...LOVE YOU MORE!
