Joseph C. Lannon, a longtime resident of Maryland, passed away on August 19, 2026. Born in Baltimore City, he lived a full and vibrant life defined by an undeniable love for his family, hard work, and dedication to his country. Joe was the beloved husband of the late Rose Marie Lannon; beloved father of Jeff Lannon and his wife Min Wang and Greg Lannon and his wife Judy, dear brother of the late Caroline Powers, Charles Lannon and John Lannon; cherished grandfather of McKenzie and her fiancée Jesselyn, Samantha and her husband Zach, and Rebecca.
A veteran of the United States Army, Joe served his country with honor. Following his military service, he spent his career as a Lighting Engineer for Baltimore Gas and Electric (BG&E), until he ultimately retired from the company to begin his own firm specializing in designing the lighting needs for golf courses.
An exceptionally talented builder, woodworker, and handyman, Joe could bring any home project to life with precision and craft. He was an avid sports fan, faithfully cheering on the Baltimore Ravens. He frequently hosted lunch on game day and enjoyed discussing the team’s performance. He also loved golfing and was a passionate car enthusiast with a deep appreciation for the engineering that went into building them.
Throughout his life, Joe embraced adventure. In his earlier years, he cherished time spent fishing with his sons. He loved traveling, particularly to Hawaii and various tropical islands. Above all else, his greatest joy was his family. He completely adored his grandchildren, who fondly remember growing up with sleepovers at his house, complete with trips to get pizza and chocolate eclairs, and nights on the porch listening to his curated bedtime stories. He had a way of bringing laughter and light into every room, often with his quick wit, a funny story, or a perfectly timed joke.
Joe leaves behind a legacy of laughter, hands-on craftsmanship, and unforgettable moments with those he cherished most.
The family will receive friends at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 12 to 1PM followed by a service celebrating Joseph’s life.
Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
