My sincere condolences to Laverna and the rest of the family on the passing of Joe. Joe was a member of local the community association and he and Laverna graciously opened their home for board meetings on many occasions. While he was blind, Joe regularly kidded that he was the "watchdog" of the community. He always seemed to have a laugh and a good word. Living across the street from him I would occasionally catch him outside collecting the mail or waiting for a ride and we would get a chance to catch up.  He was a good guy, and will be sorely missed by those who knew him. Rest in peace Joe.

Joe has been a dear friend of mine since we met as boys in the early 1950's. During those days we enjoyed riding bikes together, skate boarding, walking his dog Sparky and just hanging around the neighborhood. Joe was always fun to be with. He liked to visit his many cousins, aunts, uncles and brothers. We also did odd jobs for Brother Hillary at St. Wenceslaus Church. In our teenage years, we met a group of fun loving guys and girls on Eager Street who we enjoyed being around for many years.

In later years Joe, Laverna, I and my wife Monique enjoyed riding around the old neighborhood in East Baltimore and talking about the old days there. We will miss our dear friend and will always think of him fondly & lovingly.

Laverna and Family:   I have the fondest memories of you and Joe at my parents events and also coming over to your Halloween party.  Prayers are with you and your family.  I am glad that I was able to see Joe in the last 3 months and play for him his favorite songs which were Dolly Parton's songs, Jolene and Islands in the Stream.

He was a very dear friend, who I grew up with since we were six years old. He is also the Godfather to my oldest daughter, Shelley. My wife Ricky and I will miss him immensely. We love you Joe and you will always be in our hearts and prayers.

We will miss you our dear friend. Joe and l knew each other since we were six years old. We attended St. Wenceslaus together. We shared a lot of great times with our Eager Street gang as we were known, dances, parties, and crabs. We also shared the sad times of losing loved ones. Joe:  I will miss you and the many memories that we created together.  Our friendship began on October 30, 1960, when you walked in the office to join the Baltimore City Dept. of Planning, for a position as an Illustrator.  For 65 years we always got together to celebrate birthdays, weddings, Halloween, Christmas, Valentine Day, Easter, and eating steamed crabs in the summer.  There were many times we danced together doing the Cha Cha or slow dancing.  Marco and I always enjoyed your gift of music by your performing for us with your harmonica, accordion, and organ. 
I will always keep you in my prayers and thoughts, and praise God for your presence in my life, which made my life complete.
I will see you in heaven to continue our legacy of friendship.
