The Leukemia Lymphoma Society just had their annual Light the Night Walk. I walked in honor of Joyce Ramirez. GBMC and LLS really miss you Joyce!! Thanks for all that you did for both.

Dear Ramirez Family,
THANK YOU for planning the beautiful memorial service on Saturday in honor of Joyce.  That was a wonderful tribute to life and we are sure that she was smiling her big smile from heaven as she heard all the great things that Susan, Julie, Peter and the grandchildren said about her.
It is hard to believe that Joyce and Mario have been in our lives for over 50 years-what terrific memories.  May God's Comfort be with all of you.

I've known Joyce since we joined Epworth in 1972.  We've shared so much over the years – teaching Sunday School, “singing” in VBS (neither of us carried a tune very well!), making items for the old Fleazaar, compromising during SPRC meetings....  Susan and Julie laughed at our boys' antics when they were babies. We could talk on the phone for hours.  She shared her love of crafts with me.  Not only do I make Moravian stars now, but so do my daughter and daughter-in-law.  I must have myriads of recipes that came from Joyce's kitchen.  Every time I make one of them, I will think of her with fondness. She was a marvelous cook. We played pinochle (I rarely won!), we hiked at our house in WV, we had lots of dinners together with all our Epworth friends and attended many weddings together. Joyce faced her illness as she did her life, with dignity and grace. She was a great friend and I miss her.

I have so many fond memories of Mrs. Ramirez and her family.  There was never a time that I did not see a smile on her face.  Mr. Ramirez, Susan, and Julie, my prayers are for God to shine His healing light on  you all.

Dearest Susan, Mario, and Entire Family of Joyce,
     Our hearts are broken over your sorrow over Beautiful Joyce's passing, but remember, she has passed into Heaven! There is so much we can't see or understand here on earth, but please remind yourselves that Joyce is vibrantly ALIVE in the Next, Blessed Realm! Her first name is the second syllable of "Rejoice," and we are certain that this is what she is doing right now with God our Heavenly Father, Our Lord Jesus, and our Blessed Mother! YOU are all the testament of Joyce's grace and love and her extraordinary soul! God bless all of you, and may you rest assured that your Beloved Joyce is right where she needs to be, living and loving abundantly!

Milt and I have so many memories of the Ramirez family at Epworth, it would take a big page to list them all.  I will miss Joyce sitting behind me in the choir loft. The song, "It is Well With my Soul", will always remind me of the way Joyce faced her illness.

We are blessed to have had Joyce as a part of our extended family as she is my brother's mother-in-law. Her sense of humor, zest for life and love of family & cooking are so ever present in her daughter Julie & grandchildren, Lydia, Elaine & Adam. They are her legacy and we are thankful they are part of our family. Joyce has certainly left this world a better place. Our love & sympathy go out to Mario, Susan and all of her family as well.

My heart breaks for all of you. I met Joyce so many years ago and loved her immediately. One year she gave all of the girls in Radiology a beautiful Christmas ornament. We thought it was beautiful and then she told us she made it in ceramic class. Well, that was the beginning of all of us joining the group and extending that invitation to all of our family and friends. We met at Ms. Dot's house for the next 20 years......and the rest is history. She spoke of each of you so often I felt that I knew you well.

Mario and family - I met Joyce on several occasions,when she and Mario came to my farm and elsewhere. She had a terrific personality.Mario and Joyce made a perfect couple.I worked with Mario off and on at SSA/OGC/OIG for 25 years.I think the world of him.No one could be as thoughtful and kind as Mario, if not for the support and partnership of his spouse,Joyce. My prayers will be with you Mario.

Mario, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. It's been a long while since we worked together at "the factory", but I remember you well, and at my age that's an accomplishment.  God bless.

Mario,  Sorry to hear of the loss of your wife.

My heart is very saddened, by the loss of Joyce.  I read about it this morning in the obits and I was floored.  Joyce was a wonderful person, kind, and sweet and always thinking of others and putting them first.  She was my boss at Pikesville Daycare and I could not have asked for a better one.  After she left she still came to volunteer, coming and helping us with our gardening and during the holidays she would come and help us with our gingerbread houses.  She loved her family dearly, her husband, daughters and grandchildren.  The world has lost a great person, and heaven has gained an angel.  R.I.P Joyce you will surely be missed

hid one on us, bet they're laughing in heaven, there goes that story again.  I miss her very much and can't tell her to HANG IN THERE, our little joke.

To my oldest friend Susan, her dad, and her sister Julie, their husbands and the grandchildren.  I have so many memories from your house, starting from when Susan and I were in fourth grade and would spend the night at each others' houses, all the way through our bridal and baby showers.  I remember eating apple pie sitting at your kitchen table when I had spent the night one night probably more than 35 years ago -- it's such a vivid image.  It's a treasure to have such old and dear friends.  Your mom was very loved and her memory will stay with you forever in all the things she taught you and all the sweet things she did for you and for all of us.

Aunt Joyce was always very kind to me. She always brought me little gifts at Thanksgiving and made me feel very special. I will always remember making yummy gingerbread houses and paper stars with her. She truly amazed me with her creativity, and Thanksgiving will never be the same without her presence, although she will always be present in my heart.

I will never forget...your smile, your gentle hand, your passion and creativity. Your determination, your sense of fun, your love but most of all, I will never forget you.

Aunt Joyce will always hold a special place in my heart.  She had a way of making our visits so very special and fun for the kids. I know our Thanksgiving will never be the same without her.  I will treasure the memories forwever.

Joyce and I were classmates in nursing school.  It was a priviledge to have known Joyce and I will really miss her at our reunions.

Dear Ramirez Family, 
I am so glad I had the honor of meeting Aunt Joyce two years ago.  She gave me the biggest hug at the family reunion without knowing anything about me.  She made me feel so special and made me more comfortable around the entire family that day!  It is evident that she raised a beautiful family and that she was loved by everyone.  As all of you feel, I do wish we had more time with her here on Earth but we all know she is in Heaven watching over us!

Aunt Joyce was the most positive upbeat person I ever met. She was always doing kind things for others and making people laugh. She was a role model for me, setting the bar higher than I could ever hope to achieve. I loved to take a tour of her garden seeing what marvels she produced with her hands in the soil. Then, sitting in her kitchen enjoying the fruits of her labors was an even bigger treat. It always felt so wonderful to be in her company no matter where we were or what we did. Aunt Joyce will remain forever in my heart.

We are sending our heart felt condolences to the family. Aunt Joyce with her bubbly personality & smile will surely be missed,We always had a great time when we got together,she will be in our thoughts & prayers always.

To me, my Grammy never changed. Yes, she did look different, but that never mattered to me. The only thing that mattered was that her heart never changed. 

Whenever we went down to Grammy and Granddad's house, we had so much fun. We used to go to this Chinese restaurant. Once, we were playing this game at the restaurant called Telephone. You had to think of something random and whisper it to the person next to you, and they whispered it to the person next to them, and so on. When it ended with Grammy she thought we were saying, “The Sushi Chef is cute”. We all laughed. 

That Grammy at the Chinese restaurant and the Grammy that I sat next to while she laid in bed, were the same because they had the same heart. The same heart that loved me, and that's all that mattered.

I think that Grammy is watching down on us from heaven, wishing that she could be here with us. But, what Grammy doesn't know is that she already is.

Grammy Joyce always made the best pies, breakfasts & treats. Whenever she came to our house for Christmas she  made yummy Christmas bread and always put extra icing on it for us. She made bacon buns, that we couldn't get enough of, and delicious homemade jam. She taught us how to make gingerbread cookies & paper stars. I will always love Grammy  even though I can't see her anymore.

Joyce and I were roommates in nursing school when she returned from a function where she had met Mario.  From that day forward, Joyce was totally smitten with Mario.  There was never any other in her mind.  Joyce was a wonderful roommate, a good friend over the years and one of the prettiest and most poised woman I have known.  Mario, Susan and Julie, you all are in my prayers for God to grant you peace and comfort in your time of grief.

We were blessed to have Joyce as a next door neighbor for the last 11 years, since we moved to Phoenix when my daughter Kristina was only 8. Joyce was always so generous with strawberries and cherries and our neighborhood "Watermelon Parties" on her front lawn.  Our love to Mario, the daughters and all the grandchildren - Joyce will be sorely missed but always remembered.  The Walsh Family - Sue,Kristina and John.

Joyce will certainly be missed by all of us here at GBMC Infusion. Both the staff and the patients will miss her dearly. She was an inspiration to all. She always knew what to say and what to do. We are grateful for all the time that she volunteered for us and the time that we had to work with her. It was a pleasure to get to know her and be part of her life. She made such a difference in the lives of our patients. We will miss her so very much-
