

LouEllen was the daughter of the late Col. Jesse Hinson and Ruth Patterson Hinson. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Norville R. Griffin in 1996, her loving son, Jamie R. Griffin in 1982 and brother Thomas P. Hinson in 2011.
She was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Baltimore until she married, and then of Grace Falls United Methodist Church in Cockeysville for over 50 years until it closed ; and now is a member at Mays Chapel Church in Cockeysville, MD.
LouEllen Griffin was a Certified Lay Speaker for the United Methodist Church and performed many funerals for veterans in the community and spoke often in her church. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and worked each year with the Baltimore County Christian Work Camp helping to feed workers as they helped people in their community. LouEllen Griffin also did volunteer work for the Missing and Exploited Children’s Association (MECA) in Baltimore County where her own son, Jamie, age 17, was murdered by Michael Whittlsey, and supported legislation to help fight for the rights of children. She and her husband, Norville set up scholarships at Dulaney High School in his honor.
LouEllen Griffin is survived by her brother and sister, Jesse J. Hinson and Carol Lee Hinson. She is also survived by Linda Montaigne Rock, her daughter for life and her husband, Daryl and her grandchildren for life Carrie and Aaron Rock; Brother-in-laws and wife, Charles and Olga Griffin, Norwood Griffin and her sister-in-laws, Nathle Stahl, Nancy McDermott, Nelda Prather, Regina Griffin, Francis Griffin, Nancy Griff and Louise Spedden. She also has many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Her numerous friends and family were of great love to her.
The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, MD 21093 on Sunday, August 28 from 2 to 6 pm. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the Mays Chapel United Methodist Church, 11911 Mays Chapel Road Timonium, MD 21093 on Monday, August 29 at 11AM. Interment Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery.
