

The former Louise Sweeten-McCain was born and raised in Reidsville, North Carolina where she graduated from Bethany High School. She attended the Appalachian State Teachers College in Boone, North Carolina and later graduated from the North Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
A native of North Carolina, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she married Calvin W. Sweeten in 1945 who died in 1979, she later married Richard Brackett who died in 1995.
She worked at the Johns Hopkins Hospital for 20 years until she retired in 1981. Since then continued her nursing profession part-time and as a companion to many who needed assistance during the aging process for nursing care.
She was a longtime active member of the Northwood Home Makers Group, the Rogers Forge AARP Chapter #2360. Also family member of the Kelly-Timonium American Legion Post, volunteer of the Cancer Wellness Community and a auxilary member of Greater Baltimore chapter of Maryland Retired Officers Association, member of the Shriners Bou Tem Sci Club and fomer member of the Country Club of Maryland and a member of Towson Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by three sons; Calvin W. Sweeten and his wife Amy of Overland Park, Kansas, Gerald K. Sweeten and his wife Gail of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and Marshall Sweeten and his wife Sharon of Gallway, New Jersey. Loving and devoted grandmother of Amanda, Samuel, Faith, Jeremy and the late Christian Sweeten and 5 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held in the Pickersgill Retirement Community, 615 Chestnut Avenue, Towson, MD 21204 on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 2pm. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Pickersgill Retirement Community, 615 Chestnut Avenue, Towson, MD 21204 and/or Gilchrist Hospice Care, 11311 McCormick Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.
