Marceline "Marcy" Vincenzes completed her long and memorable journey after 98 years marked by resilience and a life lived on her own terms. She is survived by her daughters Cathy Delligatti and husband Jim, Kim Russell and sisters Janice Dudginski and Gwen Kauffman; grandchildren Andrew Delligatti, Julia Delligatti and James Delligatti Jr; great grandchildren Emily Delligatti, Vincent Delligatti, Madeline Papesh, Maxwell Papesh, Logan Delligatti, Aria Delligatti and Bella Delligatti and many, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Marcy was born on October 29, 1927, in Mt Carmel, PA, a coal miner’s daughter and second born to a family of seven children. Her early life was not easy as her mother died of cancer when she was in high school and she helped care for her younger siblings during her mother's illness. Her resilience through her early life is a testament to her strength and is perhaps the reason she was known for telling you exactly what she thought.
She married Lawrence Vincenzes, in 1945. Together, they built a full and adventurous life in Lutherville, Maryland, where they raised their two girls and shared 53 years of marriage until Lawrence's passing in 2001. Their greatest joy, other than family, was traveling as they explored more than 20 countries, collecting memories, stories, and endless photos.
Marcy worked for the Baltimore County Public Schools for 25 years and retired in 1988. She lived on Spring Avenue in Old Lutherville until 2020, a place she called home for 60 years where she made lifelong friends among her neighbors and welcomed family for every holiday. Marcy's life approach was entirely, unmistakably her own. She leaves behind generations of family with strength, resilience, and a good dose of humor.
Marcy spent countless hours knitting and crocheting, creating numerous scarves, ponchos, dishcloths and hats. She was a fan of Fox News and read The Wall Street Journal cover to cover as well as doing the crossword. She was a trivia queen and avid reader of fiction.
