

Margaret (Margot) FitzGerald Minnis, 89, of Mercy Ridge Timonium, MD entered into eternal rest August 8, 2026. Born in Providence, Rhode Island to her Irish parents Edward and Elizabeth (Kilgallen) FitzGerald. Sadly, her father passed away when she was 7 months of age. Margaret’s paternal grandmother helped care for her while her mother went to work to provide for her four children. The family was strengthened by her maternal aunts and uncles as well. She was so loved as a child by all. Her favorite pass time was the theater where she worked (Hope Theater) and gained her passion for movies. Margot graduated from St Xavier High school in 1955. Out of high school, she worked for the telephone company and then for an insurance company in the claims department. She met the love her life David J Minnis at a wedding where they were both in the wedding party. They wed in 1958 and quickly added to their family Elizabeth Ann Hendrix (Scott), Marianne Minnis Michels (David), David Joseph Minnis (Jennifer) and Kerry Minnis Napper (Jeffrey). She embraced change and moved from Rhode Island to New Jersey on to California and Arizona finally settling in Bel Air, Maryland. She dedicated her life to raising her family working at times to buy a car or help with education expenses. She was an avid bowler and bridge player during these years. She loved to laugh and enjoyed playing any board or card game especially bridge. She really excelled in cooking the most amazing cuisine. Learning on the west coast Mexican cuisine, Italian cuisine was her best. She mastered all she attempted and provided the best meals. Everyone loved her cooking. Her other talent was in finance. She was gifted in investing and understanding Wall Street. She loved the slot machines and was known for her winnings. Country Music was her favorite.
Once her husband retired, they enjoyed traveling the world on cruises and spent the winter months in Vero Beach where they enjoyed bridge clubs and family visits. When home in Maryland they enjoyed time in Phoenix and Ocean City.
Predeceased by her parents, siblings Mary Louise Kavanagh, Edward FitzGerald, Elizabeth Ann Meegan and beloved husband David of 61 years. She is survived by her four children. Grandchildren and Great grandchildren Jessica (Hendrix) and Chris Owen and their children Chelsea and Hunter. Christoper and Cathy Hendrix and their children Abigail and Samantha. Thomas Michels, Ashley Michels, Nicole (Michels) and David Stein and their son Carter. Rachel (Minnis) and Alex DeWeese and their son Robert, Emma Minnis, Catherine (Minnis) and Thomas Jednorski. Benjamin and Victoria (Moreaux) Napper and their daughter Arabella, Austin Napper, Margaret (Napper) and Asa Goldstein. Too many nieces and nephews to list. She loved them all dearly.
Services will be Saturday, August 22nd at the Mercy Ridge Retirement Community in Timonium, Maryland. We will gather in the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at 12 pm. A reception luncheon will follow in the Dulaney Room.
