On Monday, October 27, 2025, Mary Louise Valencia (nee Pignetti) passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Andrew V. Valencia for 62 years; loving Mom of Michael Valencia (Barbara) and Michele Valencia Tollen; cherished Grandmom of Luke Tollen and Joshua Tollen; dear sister of Vincent Pignetti (Rita) and aunt of Nicholas Pignetti. Mary was pre-deceased by her long-time friend from Catholic High School, Verna Young and her husband Bob.
Mary was a devout Catholic whose faith guided every part of her life. A longtime parishioner of Church of the Nativity, she joyfully served as a greeter and was an active participant in the Small Group, always welcoming others with a kind word and a smile. Her dedication to service extended far beyond her parish—she worked as the Volunteer Coordinator at Greater Baltimore Medical Center for 26 years, where her compassion and organization touched countless lives. She and her husband Andrew shared a love of travel, exploring places near and far, from Italy and Cape May to Ocean City and many bus trips across the United States. In her younger years, she took cake decorating and ceramics classes and poured her creativity into everything she made baking beautifully decorated cakes for her children’s birthdays—some of her most memorable creations included Cookie Monster and Snoopy and making a ceramic Christmas tree that would be kept for many years. Family was the heart of everything she did. She loved cooking Italian meals, especially her famous lasagna made with sauce from scratch. Mary loved hosting family gatherings in her home, often combining birthday dinners so everyone could celebrate together or gathering everyone together for a holiday meal. She organized Christmas cookie baking parties, Easter dinner with her homemade easter eggs and the occasional dinner with just her grandsons that she often looked forward to. A proud graduate of The Catholic High School of Baltimore, she carried her values of faith, family, and kindness throughout her life. Above all, she was a devoted and hands-on “Grandmom,” never missing a soccer game, school event, or graduation. Her love, warmth, and devotion to her faith and family will be remembered always and deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
