

Millard L. “Hap” Cursey, Jr. died peacefully at home on January 16, 2025,
surrounded by his loving family. He was 79 years old. He is survived by his wife
of 47 years, Jo Ann “Jo”, two daughters, Monica Koors and her husband Rich, and Erin Ruocco and her husband Mike. He was also survived by his four grandchildren, Natalie and Nathan Koors, Presley and Gavin Ruocco, and his brother-in-law Joseph Potisek.
Hap was born on January 1, 1946, and raised in historic Lutherville. In his youth,
he spent many hours helping his grandfather, Joshua T. Wheeler, who owned a
farm in Timonium. Hap attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He is a graduate of Towson High School and West Virginia Wesleyan University. He started his career in banking, which took him to Pittsburgh, where he met his wife. Hap and Jo returned to Maryland, where they applied their considerable skills and energy to operating Holly Hill Manor Nursing Home in Towson for 33 years. He sold the nursing home in March of 2008.
Hap was very active in the Nursing Home community and served as the president of Health Facilities Association of Maryland for many years.
Hap was a member of the Maryland Army National Guard and the Pennsylvania Air Force National Guard.
Hap was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Lutherville and served on the Board of the church for more than 50 years. He was also the President of the Board of Beneficence of St. John’s IMP, a charitable organization that has supported churches, scholarships, and local charities for more than 100 years.
Hap enjoyed traveling, especially skiing, in North America, South America, and Europe. For many years, he regularly played tennis and golf and was a longstanding member of Eagles Nest Country Club, formerly known as Towson Golf and Country Club.
Hap was predeceased by his father, Millard Le Pron Cursey, Sr. (1976) , and his mother Marian Wheeler Cursey Wingard (2004), by his step-father Robert Wingard (1997) and his step-brother Rob Wingard (2008).
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 West Padonia Road, Timonium, MD 21093, on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM in St. John's United Methodist Church, 216 W. Seminary Ave, Lutherville, MD 21093. Interment, Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be directed in Mr. Cursey's name to St. John's United Methodist Church Endowment Fund at the above address.
