Neil C. Schmidt, 90, and Beverly R. Schmidt, 89, passed away peacefully just hours apart on September 19, 2026, and September 20, 2026, respectively. Married for 69 remarkable years, their devotion to one another was absolute, and they were truly inseparable in life and in passing.
Neil was a retired Baltimore City firefighter who dedicated his career to serving and protecting his community with bravery, honor, and strength. Beverly spent her life nurturing and guiding young minds as a beloved, retired preschool teacher, shaping the lives of generations of children with her endless patience, kindness, and warmth.
The couple beginning a lifetime partnership rooted in deep love, shared faith, and family. Together, they demonstrated what true commitment looks like, building a home filled with joy, wisdom, and unwavering support. After nearly seven decades side by side, one could simply not bear to be without the other for long.
They are survived by their children Brian Michael Schmidt and his wife Cindy, Stacey Carroll Howatt and her husband Brad; Their grandchildren Brian Michael Smetana, Abigayle Howatt Dissinger and her husband Eric, Alexis Carroll Howatt and the late Christopher Neil Schmidt; Great grandchildren Teagan Leigh Dissinger, Leighton Carroll Dissinger; Beverly was survived by her brother Thomas W. Statham and his wife Dee.
