Paul lived a life defined by dedication, quiet accomplishment, and deep love for his family. As a young man, he enjoyed playing baseball, carrying with him the discipline and teamwork that would shape his life. He graduated from Calvert Hall in 1961 and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins in 1983, a milestone that reflected his perseverance and commitment to learning. It was at a company Christmas party, while working in similar departments at BGE, that he met the love of his life, Patricia, beginning a marriage that would span sixty devoted years.
Paul built a highly respected career in information technology with the State of Maryland eventually retiring as the Chief Technology Officer of the Department of Public Safety. He then joined IBM Global Services for another seven years. Paul was a member of the Army National Guard in the 1960s, earning the rank of Second Lieutenant. He gained great satisfaction in developing his wood-working skills, eventually becoming one of the countries’ most respected amateur Windsor chair builders. He also enjoyed simple, steady routines such as working on crosswords, staying very current with the news by reading the daily papers, always being in the middle of a great book, following local sports, and enjoying a warm coffee at his favorite local restaurants. Paul was a devoted Roman Catholic and he and Patricia attended mass at St. Joseph’s church in Cockeysville, MD.
He and Patricia also greatly enjoyed expanding their knowledge and experiences through travel, including England, Ireland, France, Italy, South Africa, Alaska and riding the train across Western Canada. A trip to Switzerland was especially meaningful as it allowed him to connect with his family’s heritage and to create lasting memories.
Above all, he will be remembered for his unwavering love and devotion to his family and friends. He took the greatest pride in being a grandfather to his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
