Paul Lincoln Selvyn was born on June 29, 1964. He was the seventh of eight children born to Leister and Idalette Selvyn. Paul grew up in Sunday School at Pentecostal Tabernacle where he was taught the Word of God. Described as a “cool guy”, he was a quiet and private person who was funny, pleasant to be around and was well liked by his peers, even in his adult years.
In his early years, Paul showed signs of being a brilliant child. He attended Kingston College, a prestigious high school for boys where he excelled academically in all subjects, while displaying a keen aptitude for mathematics and science. He was knowledgeable beyond his years, with a naturally curious mind that would absorb information and dissect information in his own unique way. Paul was meticulous in everything he did and this quality could be observed even in the way he wrapped his textbooks.
When he graduated from high school, he enrolled in the Heart Institute, which was geared to help graduates learn skills and become self-sufficient. After the one year Heart Institute, Paul was hired by IBM Jamaica where he excelled in many areas in the computing industry. Over time, his ability and work ethic were recognized by his employer and the media. He was featured in the Jamaica Gleaner as a gifted young computer operator. Paul worked with IBM Jamaica until he migrated to the United States in the 1980's.
While in the United States, he attended Brooklyn College where he majored in computer science. He was educated in many STEM related areas of expertise and computer coding languages like COBOL, PASCAL and ASSEMBLER. After leaving college, he worked for Arris Isotoner as a computer operator until 1990. He then worked for Datatec as a network engineer and traveled across the United States delivering world class network solutions for his clients.
Paul later worked as a government contractor with a high security clearance and traveled to many countries abroad including his homeland of Jamaica. In 2019, Paul returned to the United States and became a businessman and entrepreneur. He operated his company under the name Mejatel Incorporated where he continued to provide networking solutions to his customers as well as managing an e-commerce store and VOIP telecom service.
