Richard T. Higgins

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard T. Higgins, who entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. A man of quiet strength, boundless dedication, and deep faith, Rich lived a full and vibrant life anchored by his unwavering love for his family and his community.

A proud member of the historic first graduating class of Archbishop Curley High School in 1965 where he graced the diamond playing baseball. Rich went on to study accounting at the University of Baltimore and earned his CPA license. He built a distinguished professional career, serving for many years as President of the customs brokerage firm John S. Connor, Inc., before continuing his expertise in logistics with the John S. Steer Co. In his later years, he brought his characteristic warmth and empathy to Lemmon Funeral Home, where he considered it a profound privilege to comfort and serve local families during their greatest times of need.

Beyond his accomplished work life, Rich embraced every day with enthusiasm. An avid coin collector and sports fan, he stayed active with daily walks and loved spending a clear morning on the golf course. He harbored a lifelong passion for horse racing, following the circuit from Laurel and Timonium to Saratoga, NY. Rich shared countless laughs playing poker and rummy with his friends. But above all, he treasured his Catholic faith and the moments spent surrounded by those he loved.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Christine Higgins; devoted father of Patrick Higgins and his wife Jordan, Allison Carney and her husband Dylan, and John Higgins and his fiancée Samantha; dear brother of the late Michael Higgins; cherished grandfather of Louise Carney, Daisy Carney, Jude Carney, Caroline Higgins, Charlotte Higgins, and the late Thaddeus Carney.

The family will receive friends at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road), Timonium, MD 21093 on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 from 3pm to 7pm. A funeral Mass will be celebrated St. Matthew Catholic Church, 5401 Loch Raven Blvd, Baltimore, MD 21239 on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 10am. Interment Private.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed in Rich’s memory to Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (NILMDTS) - a nonprofit that provides free, professional remembrance photography to families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss.
