On Sunday, November 16, 2025, Robert “Bob Bear” Barrett passed peacefully surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Teresa Anne Barrett for 32 years; loving father of Amanda Carman and Emily Carman; cherished Pop of Tucker Case, Charlie Case, and their father, Sean Case; son of Mary and Don Barrett, Sr.; brother of Don Barrett, Jr. (Christine Lockman), Michael Barrett, Charley Barrett (Pat Berger) and brother-in-law of Mary and Tom Heubeck; Bob Bear is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Bob Bear was a man who loved his family fiercely, and his grandchildren most of all—they could do no wrong in his eyes. Together with his wife, Teresa, he poured his love into their hobby farm, a place that meant the world to him and was always alive with the gentle company of donkeys, chickens, and goats. A dedicated antique collector and world-class storyteller, he could tell you a story about anything… and if you weren’t careful, he’d tell you three. Known to many as the dependable “Mr. Fix It,” he was the one you called when something needed mending, whether a broken fence or a heavy heart he truly believed there wasn’t a problem that couldn’t be solved with the right tool, a little creativity, and occasionally a roll of duct tape.
He loved the outdoors and spent countless hours working on projects around their home, taking particular pride in restoring his 1973 International truck entirely on his own. In later years, he and Teresa embraced life on the road in their RV, making cherished memories on camping trips, including a long-awaited journey to the Grand Canyon, a bucket-list adventure he was determined to share with her. He loved the many Beagles who blessed his life, each one a true extension of his family. An avid deer hunter, fisherman, and tireless volunteer at both the Maryland State Fair and St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Sweet Air, he stayed busy in the best possible ways. He was fond of saying, “Jack of all trades, master of none,” though to those who loved him, he mastered exactly what mattered most: living fully, loving deeply, and helping others without hesitation.
