Rob has touched the lives of so many. Irv and I have the fondest memories of him. We along with Jane and Roy Brewer went with Rob to Scotland for the Rotary International Convention in 1997. We had a wonderful trip, drank red wine and we laughed a lot . If it were not for Rob, I wouldn't have been involved in the many organizations he invited me to be part of. He introduced me to The Children's Guild, which is such a special school for children where Andy Ross, the President of the Guild, has expanded it in so many areas to help others. Rob was a huge benefactor for the Guild. What he has done for the Rotary and Rotary International is probably one of the most significant. He was the District Governor for our area and his accomplishments were so very many that it's impossible to list them all. He was President of the Hampton Mansion, and that's another organization he got me involved with. So many things. He never stopped helping even when he was very ill. He was the treasurer of our Rotary Club for the last year or so, and even when he was so ill, he was concerned that matters for the finances would be taken care of. We remember when he had his lovely wedding with Eileen took place at his beautiful home on Merryman's Road. Le Mebust, another member of our Rotary Club, officiated at his wedding. What a beautiful night and fantastic memories. He touched so many lives. We will miss him, and we loved him so much.

Eileen, we only met once but you were very gracious to me, Rob, I am fortunate to have known you. As a fellow Rotarian, you took the time to help Sheppard and teach me how to make the most out of my small contribution toward raising the necessary funds for the Bangladesh Eye Project. By accompanying me on some very early morning excursions you gave me the courage to continue when you couldn't. Your behind the scenes contacts, work, and generosity helped bring the fund raising and final Rotary International approval for this amazing plan to cure corneal blind people to it's conclusion. Your efforts will ultimately touch thousands of lives around the globe. Thank you. For me personally, I'm a better man because I knew you. Speaking for myself, and the many thousands of people whose lives you have touched and improved, we love you, we'll miss you, and we look forward to seeing you again in the after life. For the family you have left behind, we love you too. Thank you for giving us Rob.

Rob Brown was one of the kindest, most generous people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I count myself lucky to have been able to call him my friend. Rob loved Eileen and his family so much, and he loved his friends in Rotary and the churches that he took such wonderful care of, as well as the other associations that were such an important part of his life. As has already been stated, Rob touched so many lives. I expect that you will have a very full church on Wednesday! Rob was an inspiration to me, and to all of us, really. When he was so sick, he kept on doing all that he could to help us in Rotary to make our projects as successful as they might possibly be, offering suggestions, making phone calls to help us, and just being part of us. He never gave up! Rob, we miss you so much, but I am so glad that you are not suffering anymore. Eileen, we love you! And I can't wait to meet Snuggles! I am so happy for you that Rob got you such a sweet dog. Thoughtful to the end. Love, Steph

It will be obvious that Rob was a mentor to many people. Eileen will have a long list of people who will share stories with her, of all the things Rob did in life, and how much he meant to them. Many people she will know. Many she will not. Rob's presence (to me) was quiet, serene and very present. He had a calming effect on every situation, and in spite of his own suffering, he was always ready to participate because he was very much a part of the living world all the time. He will remain so, in everyone's heart and mind. We are all fortunate to have had him in our lives, and will be better ourselves for knowing him. Nothing heals but time and friendship.
best to all.

I am sure God is welcoming Rob into his loving arms for all the wonderful things he has done for so many over the years. I will remember Rob as a mentor in Rotary. He was always there when I needed him and gently nudged me when I least expected it. May his family and friends find peace knowing that his suffering has ended and he now smiles with happiness in a much better place.

Rest eternal grant to Rob, O Lord; And let light perpetual shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the Mercy of God, rest in peace.

Both an honor and a blessing to have known you from our work together trying to do good in the world through Rotary. Thank you dear friend for your commitment to service and to being such a good friend over these 20 plus years.

Eileen, thank you for your steadfast devotion to Rob. May you find peace during this time of sorrow knowing that Rob is now in a better pain free place looking down with loving kindness upon you and the rest of the family.

Our love always,

John and Theresa Murkey
