On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, Roman Piotr Klyszewski went home to be with the Lord. He is survived by his three devoted daughters, Agnieszka “Maggie” Klyszewski (Brian), Irene K. Wood (Scott) and Wanda Levenson (Dan). Roman was predeceased by his wife Irena Klyszewski, his first child and infant son, Slawomir Jan Klyszewski, his first-born grandson, Thomas “Tommy” Carroll and his siblings, Ryszard, Halina and Edmund.
He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Andrew Wood, Cash Carroll, Danielle Levenson, Aiden Wood, Paul Levenson and other extended family in Poland.
Roman was the heart of his family and loved nothing more than spending time with the people he cared about most. His favorite title he took on throughout his years was “Dziadzi.” Some of the best memories were the days he took his daughters and grandchildren to Poland to introduce them to all the extended family. He made sure they paid a visit to the family farm where he grew up, which is still in their family to this day. He also took them to pay homage to his childhood church where he served as an altar boy. Being the hardworking handyman he was, he built a swing set in the yard just for his grandkids and loved watching them play.
He was so proud of his Polish roots and built a close circle of friends who shared that same heritage—friends who became like family. Their Polish multi-family picnics at Gunpowder State Park were always full of laughter, good food, and stories that lasted long after the day ended. He was a true outdoorsman and the hardest worker his family ever knew. He built his own home in West Virginia, his happy place, and could usually be found outside, working on something or tending to his garden. He loved his peace roses, peonies, and blueberry bushes, and never minded spending hours weeding, pruning, or even just picking up sticks. His loyal chocolate lab, Rusty, was always by his side, a constant companion and true best friend.
Roman also had a knack for bringing old furniture back to life and loved gifting his refinished pieces to family. His homemade soups were famous—he never used a recipe, just tossed in whatever he had, and somehow it was always perfect. Surprisingly he had a deep passion for WWE wrestling, even though he swore football was too rough of a sport. Having lived through World War II and seen its effects up close, he carried a deep respect for peace over any form of war or violence. He wished that no child would ever have to go through a time of war like he did.
His hands built, fixed, and created so much over the years, but his greatest legacy will always be the love he gave to his family. He leaves behind countless memories, stories, and lessons that will be cherished forever, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 6-9 PM.
