Rose was the devoted daughter of the late James T. and Dorothy J. (Nee Federowicz) Zelenka; beloved sister of James Michael Zelenka, George Karl Zelenka, William Frederick Zelenka, and Frank Thomas Zelenka, Mary Ann Flagle, Joseph Walter Zelenka and the late Carlene Mary Zelenka, Caroline Katherine Slaymaker and John Lawrence Zelenka; caring aunt of Renee Zelenka, Rick Slaymaker, Jennifer Slaymaker, Ann Margaret Zelenka, George Zelenka, Jr., Sarah A. Flagle and Austin J. Flagle, and her cherished Kody Lee.
Rose was a proud 1992 graduate of Mercy High School. Rose carried the friendships and values of her youth throughout her life. She was a woman of steady dedication and deep local roots. She served her community for many years as a clerk for the United States Postal Service. She was a woman of many distinct tastes and local loyalties. Rose and her family were frequent and familiar faces at Sip & Bite, a restaurant in the Canton area of Baltimore since Rose was a child. Rose would from time to time stop for a quick bite at Burger King and was rarely seen without her favorite diet soda in hand.
Rose is best known to her immediate family members as "Rosie". One of the two greatest joys that "Rosie" had in life was the company of her dogs. Over her short lifetime she has had many dogs being the avid animal lover she was. "Rosie" spent many countless hours in the presence of her canine companion appreciating their unwavering loyalty as much as they appreciated her dedicated care. Her other great joys in life of course were her family. She took great joy in the accomplishment of assisting in the raising of her niece and nephew Jen and Rick earlier in her life. Most recently though we all would agree that she found the most joy and love in assisting with the raising of Kody. They spent countless hours together that made "Rosie's" life meaningful and enjoyable.
When she wasn’t at home, "Rosie’s" heart was often at the beach. She cherished her trips to Ocean City, Maryland, where her stays at the Paradise Plaza were a highlight of her year. She loved nothing more than a feast of Maryland crabs, enjoying a wide variety of foods, and the relaxation of being chauffeured around on long, scenic rides to take in the world around her most recently.
Rosie will be remembered by her devoted family and friends for her unique spark and the quiet way she enjoyed the world. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A private Celebration of Life will be held for the immediate family.
