Jessie Sue Morris Pearson, age 79, passed away at her home on July 3, 2021. She was of the Christian faith and was a life-long Methodist.
Sue was born in Galax, Virginia on May 18, 1942. She was the only daughter of four children born to Jesse Ralph Morris and Elsie Sue Todd Morris.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband Jack Walter Pearson, and a brother Ralph Neal Morris.
She leaves behind one son, John Ralph Pearson (Jennifer) and three grandchildren: Josh, Anika, and Todd.
In addition to her son and grandchildren, Sue is survived by two brothers: Jefferson W. Morris (Doris), their two sons Lee Morris (Micky), and Michael Morris (Jennifer), and their three children Emma, Luke, and Drew. She is also survived by her younger brother Harry T. Morris (Betty Lou), their two children Benjamin S. Morris, and Sarah Morris (Matthew Hepler) and their daughter Cora Rose Hepler.
Sue was a graduate of Radford College. and taught high school mathematics for Baltimore City and Baltimore County schools. Sue also taught crafts and needlework classes for Baltimore County Adult Education at night school. After that she worked as a computer programmer and manager for Holiday Universal.
Never one to be idle, Sue kept her hands and mind busy. She was Editor for the Baltimore PC Users Group, Embroidery Guild of America, and in the DAR Colonel John Streett Chapter as well as the Long Island DAR Chapter in Kingsport, TN,
.
She was an incredibly talented individual in the creative arts. She taught basket weaving, doll making, needlework, stained glass designs and quilting. Her son John remembers her craftiness when creating Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.
Genealogy was a passion during her later years. She enjoyed searching her family genealogy and volunteered her time in the Carroll County Genealogy Club helping collect information for others. She published the book A Morris Genealogy: Descendants of Edward Morris.
Finally, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, family and friends.
On July 11 at 2:00 a graveside service will be at Oakland Cemetery in Galax, VA. Officiating will be Pastor Michael Morris. The family will greet friends immediately after the service.
