

Known to family and friends as "Thom," he was born on August 23, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York. He later moved to Pottsville, Pennsylvania, and then to Baltimore, Maryland, where he spent most of his life building a successful career, raising a family, and creating lasting friendships.
Thom proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1968, including a tour in Vietnam as a fuel systems specialist working on B-52 bombers. His military service remained one of the accomplishments of which he was most proud, and his love for his country never wavered throughout his life.
After completing his military service, Thom used his GI Bill benefits to pursue higher education. Through hard work and determination, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 1972 while working and attending school full time.
Thom went on to build a distinguished career in financial planning and investment advising. He founded Carroll, Frank & Plotkin and was widely respected for his knowledge, integrity, and entrepreneurial spirit.
While Thom enjoyed his professional success, his greatest joy came from his family. He deeply loved his family and friends.
Thom was a passionate fan of Baltimore sports and rarely missed cheering on the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens. He loved spending time in Ocean City, Maryland. He was also a movie enthusiast, and among his favorites was Gladiator, a film whose themes of courage, loyalty, and perseverance resonated with him.
Those who knew Thom will remember his vibrant personality and love of dancing. In his younger years, he appeared on the legendary Buddy Dean Show, an experience he fondly remembered throughout his life. Whether dancing, watching a ballgame, enjoying a movie, or spending time with family, Thom embraced life with enthusiasm and warmth.
Thom was preceded in death by his beloved sons, Ryan Carroll and Tommy Carroll, III. He often spoke of Ryan as his best friend, and he considered Tommy, who courageously battled leukemia, his personal hero.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Chloe Valentina Carroll his former spouse, Agnieszka "Maggie" Klyszewski ; his brother, Charles E. Carroll and family; and many relatives and friends.
