years old.
Val, as she was known by friends and family, was born on January 6, 1944
in Allentown, PA to Francis “Frank” Bennett and Margaret (Kaufman)
Bennett. She attended Englewood Hospital School of Nursing (RN) and
Fairleigh Dickinson University (BS in Nursing). She worked as a
Registered Nurse at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey.
She married Kevin C. Feury in August of 1966. Her maid of honor was her
best friend Molly (Blackledge) Gallo from nursing school, a friendship she
maintained the rest of her life. As the Feury family grew, Val retired from
nursing to become a full-time mother and homemaker.
Valerie was an active parishioner at St. Joseph's Church in Cockeysville,
MD where she was heavily involved in Social Ministry programs. For many
years she hosted the Family Mass and organized the collection of food and
clothing for several charitable agencies through the Church Advent
Outreach. She also co-chaired the Our Daily Bread ministry for nearly 25
years, tirelessly coordinating the monthly collection and delivery of food to
those less fortunate.
She was a devoted mother and proud grandmother, fiercely loyal to those
she loved. Valerie enjoyed spending time at the beach, and had a
penchant for most seafood. She liked to play cards and was a long-time
member of the Ramsgate Bridge Club. Later in life she played many games
of rummy and Scrabble with family members. She loved animals and often
extolled their virtues. Val liked listening to folk music, especially Peter,
Paul and Mary. She closely followed Baltimore sports as a fan of both the
Orioles and Ravens. Val enjoyed traveling with her husband and explored
Europe, Mexico and Canada with him in addition to countless trips to
Colonial Williamsburg.
She is survived by her husband Kevin Feury (Cockeysville, MD); brother
George Bennett (Myrtle Beach, SC); daughters Patricia Feury (Flagstaff,
AZ) and Karen Grier (East Berlin, PA); son Brendan Feury (White Marsh,
MD) and grandchildren Owen and Reagan Feury.
The family will receive friends at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Friday, February 15, 2019 from 6 to 8pm.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed in her memory
to Our Daily Bread, 320 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.
