Walter James Wilson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 18,2025 . Known for his boundless joy, unwavering faith, and love for his family, he left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
For over 40 years, Walter dedicated his life to teaching special education, shaping countless young lives with patience, compassion, and humor. He will be remembered not only for his dedication in the classroom but for his kindness and genuine belief in every child’s potential.
Outside of work, Walter lived a life full of color—literally and figuratively. He had a signature love for bright clothes and an even brighter spirit. He never met a stranger, and his trademark “WHOO HOO!” could light up any room.
A man of deep faith, Walter always prayed over every meal, offering what his family lovingly called “the world’s longest grace.” His prayers were heartfelt and full of gratitude—just like the life he lived.
He was happiest surrounded by family, whether they were gathered around the dinner table, watching a Ravens game, or spending magical days together at Disney World. Though he didn’t ride all the rides, he cherished every laugh, every smile, and every shared moment. With a sangria or Bahama Mama in hand, he savored life’s simple pleasures.
Walter also loved sports of all kinds and could often be found watching MMA with his son, catching up on the latest headlines in the newspaper, or laughing along to reruns of Martin on BET.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years Patricia Bangs Wilson; dear father of Tanya Wilson, Towanda Wilson, Terry Wilson, Taylor Wilson, and Dakota Wilson; grandfather of the late Charlize Gillian; Brother in law of Kimberly Bangs, John Wheat and Deborah Wheat, and the late Jeffrey Bangs and Pamela Miller; uncle of Kelley Bangs, drew Bangs, Ryan Hogan, Jillian Douglas, Amanda Jackson, Samantha Wheat, John Wheat; great uncle of Camden Jackson. He is also survived by his faithful dogs Jameson, Inky, Scout, and Samantha.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at which time a Funeral Service will take place.

Though he is no longer with us, his laughter, kindness, and love will echo forever in the lives he touched.
