William "Bill" Ernest Nuttall

Bill is survived by his devoted wife Kathleen (Kathy) his four loving daughters and their spouses: Wendy Thiede (John), Gail Sala (Nick), Heather Kennedy (Chris), Holly Feustel (Eric), stepsons, Peter Mule and spouse (Damelis) and Daniel Mule, and stepdaughter, Irene Mule. His legacy continues with eighteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by his beloved first wife Lois Nuttall, parents Dr. and Mrs. E.B. Nuttall, dear sister Joyce Nuttall, and eldest stepson, Paul Mule.

Bill was born on the 10th of April 1935, to Ernest and Essie Mae Nuttall. Raised in Towson, Maryland, he was a brilliant inventor, talented innovator, and enterprising builder. He earned his college degree in metallurgy from The University of Maryland School of Engineering. After graduation, he obtained a position as a metallurgical engineer for Armco Steel on Biddle Street in Baltimore, Maryland where he served for thirty-five years. Following his retirement, Bill became an entrepreneur and designed and created fasteners for the United States Army. Bill loved music and was an accomplished accordionist. His great passion was sailing. Throughout his life he was the proud owner of several sailboats. Bill was an active member of the Catalina Yacht Club participating in numerous seminars, functions, and activities. He possessed an inquisitive mind and remarkable thirst for knowledge. Bill enrolled and completed many sailing courses and even learned to navigate by the stars.

Bill and his first wife, Lois, were married on the 23rd of November 1960. They built a beautiful life. Bill and Lois and their four daughters sailed the Chesapeake Bay together enjoying their shared passion for sailing. They lived in a charming English tutor home located in Phoenix, Maryland where Bill resided for over forty years.

Lois was called home to be with the Lord at the young age of forty-three after a valiant battle with cancer. Bill was blessed to find love again with Kathy. Bill and Kathy married on the 20th of June 1992, and he became both a husband and a stepfather.

Together, the couple created a wonderful life. For many years they enjoyed their large family, life in their lovely home in the woods, and continued to sail the Chesapeake Bay aboard their beloved "Irish Lady".

Bill was a servant to his family, friends, and nation. A veteran of the United States Army National Guard, he will be remembered for his deep devotion to family, incredible intelligence, witty sense of humor, infectious laughter, and his great love for sailing.

Bill’s family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to his devoted caregivers, Leah, Rachel, and Susan. The compassionate and faithful care they gave to Bill blessed him and his family and served as a testament to their commitment to him and their faith in Jesus Christ.

The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 12pm until 2pm at which time a Celebration of Bill’s Life will begin. Interment is private.
