Bill was born in Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC, to parents William Bidwell Sherman and Erra Long Sherman. As a teen, Bill was an Eagle Scout. His love of the outdoors carried over to his support of the National Parks, the Greening of Towson Committee and Adopt a Road Program among others. He also loved golf, hiking, biking, cars, old movies, fine food, music and yoga. Bill and his wife tended various neighborhood gardens for 27 years and were members of the Baltimore Museum of Art and ACAC.
Bill attended Lynchburg College and graduated B.S. Chemistry. He received his M.S.A. from George Washington University. He worked for W. R. Grace Chemical Company for 42 years as a Chemical Analyst, Assistant Lab Manager, Chief Chemist, Quality Engineer and Systems manager. The highlight of his career was being sent by his company to Quantaan Malaysia for 3 months to open a new laboratory. With 15 foot Monitor lizards crossing the roads and wild boar roaming the jungle, it was quite the exotic location. Bill was known for his quick wit and dry humor.
The fourth child of 5, Bill is survived by his brother, Sherrard Sherman of Maryland, June Green of Missouri, Judith Hurst of Florida and Roberta Bogash of Pennsylvania.
Bill's Celebration will be held on Saturday April 29 at 2:00 pm at Susquehanna Yoga & Meditation Center in Timonium. In lieu of flowers send donations to the Maryland SPCA, 3300 Falls Rd., Balto, MD 21211.
