Patricia Aveinelle Harris

Patricia A. Harris, 82, of Tollesboro, Kentucky died January 29, 2015 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Mrs. Harris was born in Maysville, Kentucky on November 28, 1932 the daughter of the late James Blaine Tucker and Viola Call Tucker. She was a 1951 graduate of Tollesboro High School and a graduate of Morehead State University with a Bachelors of Arts, a Master and a Rank 1 degree in Elementary Education. While attending MSU, she met her future husband, the late Steven Earl Harris whom she married on December 27, 1954. They were married for fifty-eight years until his death in October 2011. She began her teaching career in 1959 in Lewis County at Oak Ridge, then Trinity and Tollesboro Junior High School and Tollesboro Elementary School. She retired in 1994. Mrs. Harris served as the cheerleading sponsor for Tollesboro High School for almost twenty years. She was a member of the Tollesboro Christian Church and she enjoyed working in her flowers, cooking and baking and sharing with her family and her neighbors. She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Steven Earl Harris, Jr. (Amanda) of Louisville, KY and James Edward Harris (Sarah) of Tollesboro, KY; Five grandchildren, James Tyler Harris (fiancé, Amanda) of Cold Spring, KY; Colin Harris and Leslianne Harris both of Tollesboro, KY; Stephanie Harris and Blaine Harris both of Louisville, KY; one step grandson, Joey Cary of Louisville, KY; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Tucker and Roy Tucker and one sister, Wilma Barbour. Funeral services for Patricia Harris will be held at the Tollesboro Christian Church at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 3, 2015 with Pastor Chuck Perry and Pastor Larry Tucker officiating. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories. Pallbearers will be Tyler Harris, Blaine Harris, Colin Harris, Steve Pedersen, Kirby Wright and Billy Fisher. Honorary pallbearers will be her special friends Vickie Molina, Betty Hampton, Kathleen Dixon, Paul Hampton, Dr. Martha Bustos, Glen Cole and Bob Applegate. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday, February 2, 2015 from 5 to 8 PM. Memorials may be made to the Tollesboro Christian Church, 3684 West Kentucky 10, Tollesboro, KY 41189 or to Cancer Care Club, 150 Foster Street, Flemingsburg, KY 41041 or the charity of one’s choice. The arrangements are under the direction of the Barbour and Son Funeral Home.
