Rita Ruth Lightner

Rita Wheeler Lightner, 63, of Tollesboro, Kentucky died Tuesday, August 09, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. Mrs. Lightner was a member of the Pine Valley Christian Church and had retired from the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. She was born in Maysville, Kentucky on January 29, 1953 the daughter of the late Elizabeth Mae Schweickart Sparks and Norse Wheeler. She is survived by her husband Jim Lightner; son, Jimmy Joe Lightner (Ashley) of Tollesboro, KY; daughters, Bobbie Wheeler-Butler (Tony) of Melbourne, KY and Ashley McClain (Ted) of Tollesboro, KY; stepchildren, Newell Lightner (Mary Ann), Melanie Hill, Amy Thacker and Jamie Monteith all of Vanceburg, KY; Grandchildren, Wyatt Sparks, Lincoln McClain, Aubrianna Grace Lightner and Nathaniel Lightner and several step grandchildren; brother, George Sparks (Kimberly D.) of Tollesboro, KY and sisters, Judy Geagley (Gordon) of Tollesboro, KY, Shari Cook (Ronnie) of Union, KY, Sandra Crispo (Dennis) and Sue Ann Yockey both of West Palm Beach, FL. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Doug Sparks, two brothers, William Douglas Sparks and Timothy Wheeler and one sister, Shelia Howard. Funeral services for Rita Lightner will be held at the Pine Valley Christian Church at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 13, 2016 with Rev. Phil Cropper officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Barbour and Son Funeral Home on Friday, August 12, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM.
