Angelina Alegria

Angelina “Angie” Alegria, age 74, passed away on August 14, 2026.

Born on April 2, 1952, in Ajo, Arizona, Angie was one of thirteen children born to José Angel and Maria Luisa Alvarez. Her childhood in a large, inseparable family shaped her life with deep bonds of love and togetherness that remained constant throughout her years.

Angie spent several years working as a beautician in various hair salons, where her kindness, talent, and welcoming spirit made every client feel cared for. Later, she worked as a custodian at Agua Fria High School, earning the respect and appreciation of staff and students through her dedication, reliability, and warmth.

A woman of deep faith, Angie devoted many years to serving at Our Lady of Guadalupe Monastery, offering her time, effort, and heart to support the sisters and their mission. Even after retiring, she continued to volunteer there, finding comfort, joy, and purpose in the community she cherished.

Angie had a lifelong love for music — especially the Rolling Stones and The Doors- and she treasured every opportunity to dance with her sisters, nieces, and most of all with her husband, George Alegria, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage. After George’s passing in 2015, Angie remained loyal and devoted to his memory, carrying their love with her throughout the rest of her life.

As a grandmother, Nana Angie was deeply devoted to her grandchildren. She helped them get to school, supported them through their daily routines, and made every holiday unforgettable with full decorations, festive joy, and her love for cooking large meals at family functions and parties. Her home was a place of warmth, celebration, and togetherness — a reflection of her heart.

Angie was preceded in death by her parents, José Angel and Maria Luisa Alvarez; her brothers, Edmundo, Angel, Francisco “Pancho”, and Horacio “Vito”; her sisters, Carmen, Lydia, and Matilda; and her beloved husband, George Alegria.

She is survived by her sisters, Guillermina “Mina” Vega, Teresa Alvarez, and Dolores “Lola” Casas; brothers Ramon Alvarez and Leonardo “Lonnie” Alvarez

She is survived by her children, Andre, George, Christopher, and Angela; her grandchildren, Keanu, Katiri, Anisa, Araceli, Josiah, Julian, Christiana, Aubriana, Tess, and Andre Jr.; and her great grandchildren, Caleb and Cain.

Angie’s legacy lives on through her family, her faith, her service, and the countless lives she touched with her warmth, devotion, and spirited heart.
