Carmen Ortega Hernandez of Phoenix (Santa Maria) Arizona passed away on May 18, 2023, at the age of 88. She was born in Glendale Arizona on April 1, 1935, to Alejandra Rosales Lopez and Tomas Ortega. She was primarily raised by her grandparents Juan and Joaquina Rosales in the Campito known as "Hollywood" in the vicinity of 67th Ave & Indian School.
Carmen was pre-deceased by her husband Jesus (Pilin) Hernandez whom she married on January 8, 1956. She leaves behind her son, Rafael J. (Socorro) Hernandez, and daughter Diane Hernandez, Grandchildren Marissa Elena and Evian, 2 Great Grandchildren, Mary-Emma and Nicholas, 1 brother, 3 sisters, as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, and close neighbors and friends.
Carmen was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission in Santa Maria for over 60 years. She dedicated most of those years to serving the mission in many different capacities.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission in Santa Maria. The viewing will begin at 9 am, Rosary at 10 am, Mass at 10:30 am, followed by a Christian burial at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale, AZ.
