

Fernando was born in Roswell, NM in 1941 to Delia Lucero. He attended Capitan High School before joining Army Service in 1963 and being honorably discharged in 1965. He proceeded on to work in construction and becoming the President of Step Stone, in which he was very passionate about his work. He also helped in the development of the Coronado Bridge in California.
Fernando Montoya met Anna B. Velarde and married in Phoenix, AZ on January 18th, 1968. Thereafter, they extended their family and welcomed Benjamin Montoya in 1969 and Arnold Montoya in 1971.
Fernando later welcomed Cherie Cahill in 1997 with Deborah Ware. Fernando's favorite role was being a father and becoming a grandparent to 8 wonderful grandchildren. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their Tati.
Fernando will always be remembered for his generosity and compassion for others. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Fernando was preceded in death by Delia Lucero (mother) and Steven Montoya (brother) and is survived by Anna Montoya (spouse), Benjamin Montoya (son), Cynthia Montoya (daughter-in-law), Arnold Montoya (son), Cherie Montoya-Cahill (daughter), William Cahill (son-in-law), Deborah Ware (partnership) and 8 grandchildren; Lee Montoya, Criston Montoya, Armani Montoya, Arnold Anthony Montoya, Julian Rodriguez, Ava Cahill, Ozzy Cahill, and Halea Cahill.
Funeral Service is February 15th, 2025, at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Phoenix, AZ at 11:00 AM, and Reception is February 15th immediately after the service.
