

Fred Reyes Lerma Sr., 65, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 15th of 2017. He was born on June 8, 1952. He is preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Tony and Manuel Lerma and a host of many other family members.
Fred is survived by his loving companion, Ophelia "Rusty"; Mother, Teresa Lerma; Sisters, Eleanor Perez and Connie Cano; Sons, Freddie Jr., Emiliano, Jacob and Jason; Grandsons, Adrian, Timothy, Jaquar and Angelo; Granddaughters, Tazi, Azeleena and Anastazia; Great Granddaughter Athena Marie and a host of other relatives and friends whom he loved dearly.
Fred grew up in the Cuatro Milpas neighborhood. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School and attended Phoenix College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1974. He worked and specialized in the sales of Automotive Paints and Supplies. After this, he went on to work for U.S. Postal Service.
Fred had a strong passion for dancing, listening to music, hunting and cooking on his barbeque grill.
Fred loved his Raiders football team. He loved the team so much that his request was to be buried in his Raiders shirt and Raiders holiday hat.
Those who knew Fred will remember him for his sense of humor, his joking manner and his love of the simple things in life. An example of his humor and joking manner was the phrase he used as he pulled his beer filled cooler after he learned of his illness: "Dean Man Walking".
Fred will be missed by so many. May he rest in peace.
Immediately Following the Graveside Service at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, a luncheon will be provided by the Family at the American Legion, POST #107, 20001 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, Arizona 85024.
